This is the guy that head butted Yao in the World Championships a few years back.

    PASS!!!!!

I wanted someone to kill this guy then (not literally) but with the Chinese so passive it wasn't gonna happen.

The only reason I would want him here now is for someone on a Houston street to show him what a real head butt is.

My bad; I glided right over that one. It seemed that most posters were promoting this guy to Anderson's backup without mention of Dorsey...

I'm going to bring this up again and take the usual hate. wouldn't frye for 2.25m been a better option than andersen or ramos? I know its been a coupld of years and it would help the rockets win a title this year, but at least you caan look from his rookie year and see actual production from frye. He's young, a 7ft er, and can shoot those elbow jumpers that adelman wants to have in the offense this year. Then sign a guy like petro for like 1.5 and the center population is in better shape than what it will be come training camp. Just saying.

Beating a dead horse... but there is likely a reason that Morey didn't want those players.

You don't know enough about Andersen to say that either of those guys would be better than him for the money they will be paying the guy.

Hindsight is 20/20, but we've already seen what those two can do... we haven't seen what Andersen can do in the league yet. Plus the guy just wins games. I know he hasn't done it in the NBA yet, but I would rather have a guy who knows how to win championships and has helped create those wins than someone who has been pretty much benched for the past two years in the NBA

Agree. We should have gone after Frye. However, with that egg removed from the FA nest, why not look at Johan Petro rather than Ramos? He's just as young, far more athletic, a true 7-footer and has much more upside than Ramos. If not Petro, why not Chris Mihm? He can shoot, he's moderately athletic, he's a true 7-footer and he's more or less a local (UT / Texan anyway).

I tend to agree with what you say a good amount of the time, but don't see the logic here. Frye is what he is. Which is a mediocre producer on a bad team, and someone who barely gets playing time on a good team. And even when he was a mediocre producer, he struggled to be mediocre. Even if you wanted him to be a Brad Miller lite type player in an Adelman system, he really doesn't have the size to fill in at center, especially on the defensive end.

Channign Frye instead of some guy named PJ Ramos? Of course, but I honestly would rather gamble with Andersen that add the known blah that is Frye.

Wow, his high in rebounds was 1. Granted his high in minutes is 5, but he couldn't grab two boards in five minutes of garbage time? Pass, and I'm Puerto Rican.

i dont think it means that necessarily. Chuck and landry, as well as scola, are still under 6'9. If andersen gets into foul trouble, has a bad game, or gets injured, you're right back where you started, without a center. He may just be insurance for Andersen.

But that has houston written all over it. Grab a guy who seems like he isn't going to work out who you believe has the natural tools you can't teach, you get him at a low price, then develop him, and you end up with a solid player at a bargain price.

I think Andersen can give you at least what Frye can. He definitely has a jumper, with more range, and I think he may be a better passer. That would mean he's a better fit for Adelman than Frye.

Through a contact of mine, I actually had a chance to watch about 20 games of andersen and I don't see it at all. Say what you will about frye, but I doubt if landry or scola would play on those teams at the 4 spot, that's not a knock on him. What I can see is nba production of a young player. Frye is what 24? At the least he's a backup for yao after this. Anderson will be what 30? I mean we should be getting younger, atheletic players to blend with our 30+ group. Now I never said frye would set the world on fire, but I would make a tip jar wager that he will have a more productive season this year than andersen. I know we didn't give up a lot in terms of drafts, but we did give up more of les's yao money, but for less of both, the team couldve had frye. That's all i'm saying.

They're not desperate all he'll be is a back up to a back up. Will provide lenght and athleticism in short periods of play, if he cracks the rotation that is.

Dorsey's got his work cut out for him.

I understand why Morey went with Andersen.

I think it might have been different if he thought we were legitimate contenders this year. Then, you want to seize the opportunity and make sure you put the best team out there. This isn't like the Scola deal, Andersen is more of a gamble. He may not pan out but it doesn't matter because this is somewhat of a experimental year.

The one thing I don't get is how so many posters here are quick to say we KNOW what a young player will give us. It's just silly, as if 23-26 year old players don't progress. It's even funnier that they expect OUR players in that age range (or older) to develop but somehow other prospects don't. I'm sure the reason leebigez mentions a guy like Frye is because you know he can give you shooting/rebounding/size but he's young and he could possibly develop into something better.
