There's the story out there that when Rose agreed to the original ban back in 1989, the stipulation that he would not be eligible for the Hall of Fame was not in it. If that's true, then MLB should go back to their original agreement and allow Rose to be on the Hall of Fame ballot. And, if that is true, it seems like they could make him eligible for the Hall without reinstating him at all. Of course, I don't understand why they wouldn't also allow him to be a broadcaster, etc. which his current ban also precludes. If they want to keep him from managing, I can agree with that. But there's no reason to keep him from being hired by a team like the Reds to do their game broadcasts.. .or something like that.
