I agree with this. For on field accomplishments Rose should be a first ballot and there are a lot of unsavory people in the HOF.

I’m not really mourning the passing of Rose though like I am Mutumbo. I can acknowledge his greatness as an athlete but not as a person.

Also selfishly he never played for a Houston team or any other team that I rooted for.

It's all about his appearance. But as we all know, if he didn't look so funky, he wouldn't taste so fine.

Partied like it was 1999 in the age of prohibition.

I appreciate you asking. My dad was from Ohio and was a huge Rose fan, so I sorta parroted what he said from my youth. I guess Babe's biggest issue was hookers and married women. Not on Cobb's level, but still, he wasn't a saint.

I saw him play one or two times at the Astrodome way back when. In fact, my Dad caught a Johnny Bench foul ball behind homeplate at one of those games in the Astrodome on the purple seats level. I was out getting nachos. I come back and my Dad hands me the ball after snagging it from the air one-handed. Then, this lady comes around and I think there was some certificate they handed out saying you caught a foul ball at a MLB game. My Dad acts like I caught it from what I recall. Unfortunately, I cannot find that certificate or baseball. I had it for a long time. Seems like it has to be around somewhere. The intent was to get Johnny to sign it after the game and that never materialized. Then, my bro had this great idea that he would sign the ball as Johnny. Eventually, I think we started using the baseball for catch so the official MLB stamp started rubbing off. lol. I just remember the fascination with Pete and how many hits he had back then. It was a phenomenon. RIP

The allegation came up in a defamation case Pete Rose filed against John Dowd, the former Major League Baseball special counsel in charge of the investigation into Rose’s gambling. The lawsuit centered on remarks Dowd made on a Philly-area radio show in 2015. While on the air, Dowd said that Pete Rose pal Michael Bertolini “told us that not only did he run bets, but he ran young girls for [Pete Rose] down in spring training, ages 12 to 14 … Isn’t that lovely? So that’s statutory rape every time you do that.”

Pete Rose has been accused of molesting 12-14 year old girls when he was in his mid 30's playing for the Reds and Phillies.

Rose was brought in for a deposition over one 9th grader saying that she was ushered into Rose's home for a spit roast with the Hit King when she was 15. When confronted, Rose said "Oh well, I could have sworn she had turned 16 by the time we did stuff."

Let your dad know that Ruth and Cobb were not as bad as depicted.... and both were not kid ******* like Charlie Hustle.

My dad passed last year in front of me, but that really isn't the point. My dad's opinion came long before 2015, and I'm sure if he were alive today, he would condemn rape, just as I do, just as he would condemn Ty Cobb's murder, just as I do.
