No my room mate would not let me do that to her dog. It was kinda a joke.
Looks like heartworms may by the condition or something of the sort. I wonder if there is a medicine for all parasite like things. If there is one and is not expensive I might just buy it and give it to the dog.
My rooom mate works at Walmart and makes jack ****. I don't want to give a channce to get out of rent.

could be a lot of things. Heartworm is only one of them. It could be that, a food allergy, or even congestion. It can take a long time to run its course and be much more serious in dogs than in humans.

Some of these things require different treatments. Without a vet checking it out you can't be sure.

If it's heartworms and the dog is 10 and already coughing it's probably a goner. A dog that weak won't make it through the (expensive) treatment. We just went through this with my girlfriend's dog.

BUT it could be other things so have your roommate be a responsible pet owner and go without a few things for a month (drinks, dinner, new clothes) and spend some damn money on a vet trip.

The vets are some real mother****ers. You can buy ivermectin, the drug used to PREVENT heartworms, for next to nothing at any feed store. If you have an insulin syringe (you can buy them online for pennies) and basic math skills you can dose your dog correctly for a couple of bucks a year. Of course, the vet will never tell you this because that would cut into their profits but it works and it is so cheap if more people knew about it they might be inclined to actually protect their dogs.

It could be a tumor pressing up against the the throat. It could be cancer. My dearly departed dog had a cancer cough.

Too many things it could be.
