Yeah, this was my favorite line-

"In my many travels, I have noticed that once one gets north of about
48 degrees North Latitude, 90% of the world's social problems evaporate."

Cause you know the darkies don't like the cold. No suh!

It's darned close, because both Oregon State U and Cornell are very close to 45. Hilarious! Indeed, Canada is a more healthy place.

Yeah I forgot that wanting people to take responsibility for their own lives and not depend on the government made you a racist.

No but passing on fake emails filled with lies and bull**** analogies in order to make black people look stupid and lazy promotes racism.

Can you not see this?

Or are you dumb enough to think that people in Denver (or North Dakota or Montana or wherever this lovely piece of fiction came from) went out and plowed the streets and put out road salt by themselves?

LOL, I'm going to go take some responsibility for my life and buy a zamboni in case a hockey game breaks out in front of my apartment instead of WHINING for the government to do something about it.

Having just flown into and out of Colorado plus being stuck on the tarmac at DIA I can say there are a lot of problems with this email.

Leaving aside the obvious differences between a big blizzard and a hurricane in regard to the type of damage done by them hitting the specifics.

FEMA is playing a role as it is declared a federal disaster.

Ranchers have been calling for government help in getting hay to stranded cattle. Many ranchers have been talking about this as an economic disaster that could ruin them.

There were many people stuck at DIA blaming the government.

They bleeped it out but there were people swearing at DIA.

I don't recall anyone demanding debit cards but the major media did report quite a bit about the storm.

    Very few houses were destroyed.

Kind of hard to do in 4' of snow.

Except for all those ranchers demanding help getting hay to cattle. Residents and businesses demanding plowing and stranded passengers demanding the runways be open.

    See above.

But the Western US has been waiting for government land, agricultural and water programs that bring cheap water to farm and grazing land, that open up federal land for mining and grazing for practically free, and that subsidize ranching and farming.

In Colorado's history there have been several stors and this storm isn't the worst.. This is cetainly one of the earliest but not uprecedented.

Above 48% north latitude in the Western Hemisphere is Canada and in Europe is the Scandanavian Nations. Maybe its because of the activist governments why their social problems evaporate.

The World doesn't owe you anything but as taxpayers and citizens our government should be helping us out in emergencies.

From Washington State to the MN it is. Anyone who knew geography or US history would know that.

Hey! Watch it now. We may have to come burn down your White House ... again. ;) Actually I find it quite amusing that you know that bit of history. :)

And you’re close SC. The boarder between Canada and the US is the 49th parallel from Washington and Minnesota, not including the tip of Vancouver Island and a chunk of Lake of the Woods.

As someone who has lived through many blizzards I can tell you that they can be serious things. People can even die, but you can’t compare even the most serious of blizzards to what happened in New Orleans. What happened there was many orders of magnitude more serious.

D'OH! My bad.. I blame it on being stuck in airports all day. Anyway the 48 degrees north is nowhere near Colorado.

maybe the individual citizens in New Orleans should have built their own levees.

Look...the government on every level failed the folks in NOLA. The Corps of Engineers absolutely came out, a year after the event, and took blame for constructing levees that they knew wouldn't withstand even a Cat 3 storm. It was a disaster. You had a city full of impoverished people with no transportation...ordering them to just leave the city without providing a way out for them is beyond ridiculous. The local government failed them there. We watched for days while politicians hid behind separation of powers arguments...while people died. I'm sorry but that's inexcusable to me. We should not have such low expectations of our leaders. On all levels of government.

It's a sad day when people compare a few feet of snow with a category 4 hurricane that killed over a 1,000 of people.

It's like comparing a cold to bird flu.

Or saying someone who got shot by a gun shouldn't whine so much.

People who make these comparisons are likely to be racists and elitists who can pass judgements from their comfortable lazy-boy chair and probably haven't even ventured outside their town beyond what they see on the nightly news.

your crap is old. how the hell are you gonna attempt to get compassion on an issue which you supposedly support - palestinians when you play this free market on steroids with no heart at all card.

do tell how new orleans pre katrina was anymore 'welfare state' than colorado. and if you can prove that than perhaps colorado should get better representatives in dc taht know how to play the system instead of douchebags like tancredo.

I don't necessarily support the Palestinians. I just don't enjoy handouts in the billions to Israel, just as I don't enjoy handouts to New Orleans folks
that I see here in Houston. As a member of Rotary we work with groups here to help those in need and from personal experience the utter contempt for our help and entitlement mindset that i've seen from the evacuees is deplorable.
