Don't put money into a paypall acount. If you want to send Van Gundy money write a check made out to him so he will be the only one who can cash it.

Sorry I decided to post the donation site in it's own thread.

Yes, very careful. It's not likely the money will go to Van Gundy or be accepted by him, and it won't be refunded.

I know it may sound funny coming from someone who accepts PayPal contributions, but it is spelled out what it is here: You are getting something and can see the costs involved. There it is more 'give me money or I'll eat the rabbit'. Even if the person who started that site has honest intentions, it needs to be backed up by something credible.

It sucks that this happened -- it's ludicrous. The fine was way excessive. But have to remind everyone that JVG makes $5 million a season -- he's a very rich man. It's the equivalent of losing $2K one year of a $100,000 salary.

I do think the gesture though of the FANS paying for the fine (since they're paying for the hideous officiating anyhow) is powerful.

It's a show of support. No one is under any obligation to give. I'm sending in my $1.

I'll send $5 when I get home. I doubt it'll get cashed but I'll show my support.

Since we know the man won't cash the check, and we know this is just symbolic, I'll show my support by sending a fake check with the amount of $100,000 to cover the entrie fine.;)

Someone should creat bootleg videos for all the teams. Phantom Fouls 2004-2005. That would get you on cold pizza at least.

    Truth.

A full page paper ad would really:
    a. get the league's attention
    b. show the public's support for the coach and team
    c. chap Stern's hide
    d. all of the above

What does a full page ad in the Houston Chronicle or the New York Times cost?

Now this is an intriguing idea. Perhaps Mattress Mac could be persuaded to foot a majority of the bill?

Actually, this is a pretty good idea. If someone puts all the clips of Yao's 24 fouls this series, I guarantee that atleast half of them are bad or no calls. Then post it to usendit, and have the link get out on the other NBA message boards. If people actually saw the fouls being called, I think Yao and JVG would have a lot more support.

I actually heard Mattress Mac on 610 this morning and he was taking up for JVG. If someone could get this idea to him it might be a possibility.
