So by using the word "tacitly" one can get away with putting any words in someone's mouth. I learn new things every day...
Okay, I'll bite. If you abolish the federal income tax in the midst of a major recession, what entity is left to (as need be, deficit-)spend to prevent economic calamity? Do you not agree that such a step would radically reduce government funding? Is there some new Laffer/Laugher curve I'm not aware of, where if we reduce the tax level to 0%, then that = infinite tax money? Do you think "giving" citizens back the portions of their salaries back they currently pay in income tax would not lead to further hoarding/increased savings, amid fears of economic collapse? That the instantaneous destruction of the foundation of our government funding that feeds the military, roads, Medicare/Social Security, would not lead to more than a little panic?
Man you sure like to sensationalize and extrapolate from one word - "bingo". I was confused on why you were insisting on me wanting to abolish all income taxes but I see that you took my post seriously. Clearly I "abolishing" is a hyperbole and I see it as an insult to my intelligence that you would take it this way. I do not want anarchy, just smaller government. There are several ways to raise consumer spending without some superficial government stimuli which ultimately fails because consumers are smart enough to know that stimuli comes from the economic downturn and ultimately hoards more. The best way to raise consumer spending is raising the consumer sentiment which could be done by lowering taxes and expanding the disposable income. Of course, there have been debates about these kind of ideas at almost any point in history and certainly won't stop now. I just don't appreciate people putting words in my mouth, insulting my intelligence, or being condescending.
^ | bingo=Used to express the sudden completion of an event, occurrence of an idea, or confirmation of a guess next time don't use a word if you don't mean it or put smileys if you're being sarcastic
Well I wasn't being sarcastic, I do believe in lowering income taxes just not eliminating it, clearly that's ridiculous and I assumed the exaggeration was what Southern Select was going for. I don't really know Southern Select so I might be wrong. I don't post here much. God I hate semantics.
our buddy weslinder already pointed this out on the first page. he defends perry's decision but i think more on his ron paul don't tread on me philosophy more than what he thinks about our unemployment benefit standards.
