Perhaps the Celtics reduced the dribble penetration by the Lakers and Gasol didn't get as many Freebies caused by interior defensive rotations as he did in earlier rounds of the Playoffs.
Yea, he did. Too bad for the Lakers, though, the Celtics had Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. Mr. "ANYYYYYYYTHING ISSSSSSSSS POSSSSIBLE" was definitely glad the Celtics had those 2 since he rode their coattails to a title - he is definitely now "certified" - whatever that means.
I mean, the guy averaged 30 PPG for the entire playoffs. I'm not a Kobe fan and I realize he didn't play as well as expected in the Finals, but them losing is most certainly not his fault.
You honestly don't think Pau's erratic performance and eventual drop-off doesn't merit special mention? Or are you playing up some wounded "it ain't fair SamFisher is beating up on euros" angle - do me a favor since you have proudly declared you ignore my posts and actually ignore them to avert this type of thing.
Pau needs to stop trying to listen to the critics and completely forget about playing tough and physical. Thats not his game. He needs to play his game not someone else's. Bynum will make Gasol a much better player allowing him to play his natural PF. Gasol is better than people think, not worse.
I really like you righteous folks who are dissing Gasol for being soft now but defended Yao like no tomorrow when people said the same thing about Yao before.
Hmmm... Naw, we pretty much insult Yao too. He was like Charmin against the Jazz two years ago. But Pau was like old, wet Charmin... like the toilet paper you find in a basement after a flood. Yuck!
Gasol was not the one who played only 30 games a season in the last three years. Who is more soft here?
Odom stunk up the joint too, cannot finish to save his life. Some people here think he is the answer for Houston?
The entire team was contained and struggled versus the Celtics, Kobe was not as good, Pau not as good, Odom..same thing..... The Celtics were just a better TEAM.... And I doubt Kwame Brown would have made any difference. DD
Gasol's games played over the last 4 years: 56, 80, 59, 66. Yao's games played over the last 4 years: 80, 57, 48, 55. Even if injury is indication of "soft" (explain how), Gasol's injury history is no better than Yao's.
Oh mine mine, you are really giving a respectable effort to make a run for the elusive title of "a-hole" under your name. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=149674 Are you still wondering why we have been calling you an a-hole?
The Celtics would have beat a team of all-stars. I don't remember anybody criticizing Gasol or any of the other Lakers when they dominated the entire WC including the vaunted Spurs. It will be interesting how Bynum fits in with this team next year, they don't need everyone on their frontline to be a finesse player, they need a physical 4/5 on that team.
