    Yes, it worked with Zimmermann, though that is arguable since in no way will we ever know what effect the limit had on him. They also could have rested Zimmermann throughout the season, but they weren't going to the postseason, so there was no reason to care how he got his innings.

    Detwiler is 26, the same age as Zimmermann.

    The belief is that you should only increase a player's innings by 20-30 in order to build them up. Yet they obviously don't believe in that philosophy. They apparently only believe in this limitation for the first full season following Tommy John surgery.
