So a private party wants to hold a racially insensitive party. What's wrong with that?

 

I hope they lose their charter and recognition on campus. How the F#ck are you that dumb AND ignorant when you either have or are in the process of attaining a college education and degree?

 

UT does this almost every month for all the different races.

 

I think it has something to do with school policy violations, not state or federal laws. And yes, would smash, even in their costumes...bunch of ignorant hotties.

 

I still can't believe there are idiots who post this kind of stuff knowing it could get them in hot water.

 

I've been to many types of theme parties while in a frat, never a racial one. The closest I've seen are 'white trash' parties, though always hosted by whites themselves.

The theme party and photo isn't even offensive personally (Swoly-D?). The signs, ehh... I think it could have been much worse.

I'm first generation American of a Mexican family. I've never mowed grass for money, worn a sombrero, and I can't even grow a nice mustache.

Nothing, particularly from my standpoint as a minority, because I think I can differentiate between how they'd behave in private and at work, or even on campus in a non-intimate setting. I also can't pinpoint a single instance in college where I heard anything resembling a racial slur or joke from anyone, anywhere.

Unfortunately though, it seems Greek organizations have kind of a nebulous relationship with the school in that they're long-term, long-standing organizations that might get some kind of special consideration with regards to certain activities, events or funding. Depending upon where there house is located, there might be some real estate renting or pricing preferences as well. Even though the school gets paid back in terms of committed, long-term alumni relationships and donations from sufficiently well off individuals, those organizations still represent the school and have to be monitored in policed that manner; and it's only worse at a major public university.
