No, it was an intra-European flight out of TXL both times. The additional check for flights to the USA in FRA is a requirement by US authorities and reflects the higher terror risk for USA flights. Why do you say they were assholes?
Frankfurt is generally known as an unpleasant airport, similar to Heathrow. Munich is much better. That is of course if you do not use the First Class Terminal in Frankfurt and get driven to the plane in a Porsche, which is what I do. Separate security check, of course.
I used to work at an IT/testing center. A lot of the people who came to take their TSA exams were really rude. Wouldn't reply to my good mornings, or wouldn't say thank you, NEVER smiled, etc. Some people that came in looked like they were on something with blood shot eyes and lack of focus. Those computerized exams were also very very very easy. ANYONE could pass those. A N Y O N E.
Thanks, that was pretty educational. But, just to be pedantic, I don't think you summarized it quite right. [rquoter]No one on United Flight 175, which crashed into the World Trade Center, reported anything about weapons or tactics. One flight attendant on American Flight 11, which also crashed into the World Trade Center, said she was disabled by a chemical spray, while another flight attendant said a passenger was stabbed or shot. On the Pentagon plane, American Flight 77, Barbara Olson reported hijackers carrying knives and box cutters but did not describe how they took the cockpit. And on United Flight 93, passengers reported knives but also a hijacker threatening to explode a bomb. The box cutter-knives story isn't demonstrably false, but it serves to divert attention from the other weapons and to mask the fact that we don't have any idea how the hijackings happened. [/rquoter] So, it sounds like they don't know with a lot of certainty, but box-cutters actually sounds pretty likely. I think we can trust that they got some mace on-board. The "knives and box cutters" report sounds pretty definite. But the "stabbed or shot" could easily be a box-cutter because the witness probably saw the wound and not the attack (not knowing if it might have been a gun or a knife, which look and behave quite differently). The bomb threat could have been a simple lie to gain control without any real bomb. So, I would say there was at least mace, box cutters and knives present. How they were smuggled in, I admit, there'd be no way to know (though I can tell you from personal experience it was easy to get mace through security back then).
Fair enough. I made the mistake of posting one article while basing my statements from a number of different sources that I didn't also cite. The congressional commission also revised their own report from box cutters to short knives. Anyway, while it is possible they had box cutters I think it's a stretch to say it was likely. I guess at this point it isn't terribly important, and might even be terribly unimportant. But for some reason I keep getting in discussions about it.
Do I care? Not really. But I hope the person doing in the checking is a woman, not for me but for other women. Frankly, I really wouldn't want that job. Looking at a bunch of naked bodies over and over again kinda kills it after a while.
I really have no desire to get into it with your stupidity man. You cry when people insult you but really you are a bigger joke than basso, and that's saying a lot.
I guess you are upset about the Rockets loss so this is how you deal with it huh? You know, I did a search on your name to pull up that post but you post so often, every waking hour of every day, often less than 15 minutes apart I started feeling bad for you. You are on here constantly, always near by it seems. Always attached to your computer and posting literally every hour. At first I laughed and then I connected it with your anger towards posters here and your hate of Muslims. Listen man, don't buy any guns or anything and go crazy ok? Just don't do it. Not worth it. We don't need another Columbine ok?
I have been here under this post counter for 10 years 9 months. I have about 20k posts. Let's see...that's a bit less than 2k posts per year. Now...you have been here under your current user name for 2 years 11 months. You have about 6,300 posts. Let's see...that's a bit more than 2k posts per year. And that is not even counting your posts under your supposedly "fake neo-con persona New Yorker", and God knows what other handles you used. In any case, your post per day average is higher. What was your point again?
So you've been here for 11 years, and made 20,000 post, not counting the every post every 15 minutes the past few weeks - and you still can't have a civilized debate with people you disagree with without insulting them or hating on 1.4 billion people? hmmmmmm Well, you go on boy. I am going to go live life a little right now. Enjoy your posting.
I fly a lot and couldn't care less about the scanner. On the other hand, I've been patted down in some overseas airports and hate it. One time at Schipol, I was ready to tee off and break the jaw of the guy who was searching me. This happened shortly after a big celebrity got arrested at Heathrow for going off on someone. Thinking of her helped me stay calm. I was surprised at how angry I got.
I don't mind either the scanner or the patting down, except once at Zuerich where this guy was a little TOO intrusive.
