Not really... I used to be selected more often 5 years ago, however nowadays, its pretty random. However, I cringe more at the thought of going through screening now, than I would have right after 9-11.
When IAH gets these scanners, I'm going to try and find the closest airport without the scanners and fly from there. Hopefully they will have deemed the scanners unconstitutional before all the airports get them installed. If it ever comes to that, I'll drive to my destinations anywhere within America/Canada. For overseas flights, I'll drive to Mexico and catch a flight from there.
I'm debating flying this Wednesday in a kilt and going commando. And then requesting the fondle pat-down. Hilarity is bound to ensue.
Actually the whole box cutter thing was a rumor, and there is no proof at all that box cutters were used in the 9/11 attacks. From the evidence available from cell phone calls of people on board etc. They say that some person was shot, another was stabbed, and someone had a chemical sprayed at them. There was never any mention of box cutters. http://www.slate.com/id/2088092/
haha you will for sure end up on the news or youtube if you do that.... I am also traveling the coming Wednesday. The airport is going to be insane. However I am curious to and I am going to be people watching to see how others are taking the the groping pat downs and nude machines
The reason why I have been pulled out for secondary screening a couple of times (at the same airport) was that I have a lot of electronic crap in my laptop bag, bunch of cables, mobile phones and chargers. But usually, it's just annoying routine. Forgot my belt twice in London. That was also annoying. As a general comment (and I fly a lot), no security people anywhere in the world seem to be so badly trained and educated and rude as some of the TSA people in the USA I have encountered. Their tone toward passengers is often unacceptable. I do not know why that is the case, but it seems to have gotten a bit better the last couple of years or so.
Umm, Frankfurt? Those guys were straight assholes.... Maybe extra anal because it was a flight to New York, but they had an additional check before you can get into the boarding area, after the checking to get into the terminal.
