While we obviously would benefit from needing more of everything, in addition to penetration, are better shooters needed? I guess that's really limited. We'd need an overall well-rounded good player...
It is frustrating seeing these obvious things and watching the coach just not get it. YOU CAN NOT WIN LATE WITH ONLY ONE PENETRATING PLAYER ON THE COURT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The other team will take the ball out of Tmac's hands..... Brooks or Francis....or James....one of them HAVE to be in there to support Tmac. DD
The saddest part is that a lot of the Rockets wo's could be solved by sf3. What drives me insane is when Tmac plays as point guard for this team. It is a joke. In RA we trust. Currently, I'd trade overdribbling and turnovers for a team of players who don't want the ball. Nobody but Tmac wants it, thats sad.
I kept hoping Shaq would get confused tonight, pick up Rafer, and dunk him. At least one problem solved. As for the thread title, DD, my wife agrees that penetration is the key, but preparation for penetration must never be neglected! So I work hard during preparation, and the least the Rockets can do is the same. Prepare, penetrate, and score. It's a good thing I'm not suicidal. This game, combined with the others, would push me over the edge.
i'll preface my post by saying that i actually didn't catch much of this game, so.... wtf is going on??? how did this team go from 6-1 powerhouse to this 6-7 pushover? i'll agree that penetration is a key, but what happened to every other aspect??? we're playing poor defense, shooting horrendously, turning the ball over, and showing absolutely NO HEART WHATSOEVER. it's mind boggling right now.... what happened between the bucks game an the bobcats game (where the horrible play began)??? i'm supposed to go to the game tomorrow, but honestly i have no desire to do so.... i think i'm gonna go a rockets hiatus for a little while, because i cant take much more of this.
I'm starting to feel like every game I watch takes a month or two off my life expectancy. It is SO FREAKIN' FRUSTRATING!!! (but I haven't given up on them. guess I'm masochistic)
DaDa- I'm probably the only one that caught this. During the 4th quarter, Van Gundy basically said the same thing...paraphrasing..."they need players out there who can break down the defense...right now, McGrady's the only perimeter player out there with that ability". I looked at the lineup...Van Gundy's hand-picked slugs. I laughed my arse off.
yes... penetrating and breaking down the D is the key. isn't adelman's offense supposed to have alot of cutters and back door layups? i haven't seen any of that since pre-season and some in the first few games.
DD I wish you wouldn't make the answer so public!! I wanted to see if Coach'A' or any of his staff were able to work it out for themselves!
