please- trying to draw a parallel between laura bush and pelosi in this instance is just ridiculous. what pelosi did is akin to wearing a swastika to the 1936 olympics to show "respect" for your hosts.

It means everything to me as a personal based reasoning determines whether you are genuine in character or a farce...

The nazi comparison comes up again? It isn't even close. Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill.

She didn't dress up for appeasement, she dressed up because that is the proper attire for entering a synagogue.

Dressing properly for such occasions doesn't appease anyone. Nobody is getting let off the hook by her wearing a headscarf.

You speak as if this country which sponsers terrorism is a friend of the democratic leadership!...

The hag's job is also NOT to appease. I know you think appeasement is the way to deal with terrorists...Her job should be to explain the prerequisite for peace means Syria needs to perform first all the while showing her teeth...

Drop the Persian Gold you seem to be clinging to...

you need to learn the difference between a synagogue and a mosque. i'd imagine there are very few of the former in syria.

I distinctly see the similarity...The Nazi's had the swastika as their symbol. The Nazi's were the enemy. As a state sponser of terrorism, Syria is the enemy, their symbol is an intolerant religion...If Pelosi embraced the appeasement apparel of the intolerant religion, she certainly back in time would have "represented" at the site dear to the gathering of the Nazi's with the armband to beholden...Of course, she wouldn't have worn it all the time, and that would have been pointed out as well... :)

You don't understand what you think you see. Syria is a secular state. It is not run based on theocracy like Iran.

That is one place to start.

When I was in Europe I once went into a cathedral wearing a hat. I forgot that I had it on. I was asked to remove it. I did so out of respect, not appeasing anything.

Entering what? A synagogue? A cathedral? A mosque? It's a typical gesture on a visit by a representative of one government to another. A gesture of respect for the religion of that country. George Bush has visited the Pope, and Laura wore a scarf at the Vatican, even though she isn't Catholic.

Honestly, Rox... I don't understand your (or basso's) wild statements about this visit. Three GOP congressmen visited just before Pelosi. Why not raise hell about them? Pelosi didn't wear a scarf while visiting the head of state. She was briefed by the State Department. And here you have basso making one of his worst posts ever, comparing Pelosi to wearing a swastica "out of respect'" for Hitler. It's beyond absurd. It makes the two of you, especially basso, look ludicrous.

Yes I misspoke(mistyped) instead of saying mosque, I said Synagogue. That doesn't change the bigger message, but if you would rather point out words I replaced with wrong words then go ahead. I will make a million more of those mistakes before I am done.

what the hell is laura bush doing? she is dressed in muslim garb visiting a muslim holy site and reverently touching the wall. how is this not "appeasement" and a "farce". she isnt muslim - why is she acting like one. it is clearly just a photo op.

she is doing EXACTLY what you accuse pelosi of doing.

What site is Laura Bush visiting there? The Wailing Wall? That site has Christian significance.

oh yes, the bush foreign policy has worked so well for us. im sure cheney was pissed that england was able to get their sailors back thru diplomacy (talking) without the situation escalating into all-out war.

so you disagree with the baker-hamilton study, which said we should be engaging iran and syria? you know better than them, dont you?

the level of ignorance from the left here is just incredible. laura a bush is NOT "dressed in muslim garb visiting a muslim holy site" although she is "reverently touching the wall." if you don't know what that wall is, what it represents, and to whom, and why she might be "reverently touching" it, i suggest you educate yourself before posting again in this thread.
