Wand + off-hand is definitely more DPS if you can stand there and wail on the target. But with Wizards, you do a TON of kiting. Because of that, attack speed becomes less important since you're moving so much and sheer size of damage more important. That's why 2H is more damage at the moment.

I wouldn't even call is disingenuous. Blizzard probably has every intention of making the two equal, they just succumbed to some oversight. As a fellow software developer, I suppose I have more leniency when I comes to oversights and mistakes in development because I know how easily they can happen. That's why there are patches and updates to the games. It won't be perfect at release, but at least they're trying to make it better.

Just finished Hell mode yesterday with a level 60 Witch Doctor. Took me about 52 hours to finish. The game is a lot of fun and brings back a lot of nostalgia from the countless hours I spent on D2. I think the game is vastly improved in that I don't have to spam one spell the entire game I often have to switch up my spells and tactics from each act to each difficulty level. Played around a little on inferno but probably going to start up a Barbarian or Demon Hunter.

The Lacuni and flying bugs that shoot the smaller, slow green bugs are a pain to deal with.

That said, Act III is definitely the hardest once you get out of the Keep (until then, it was pretty easy). The fields outside between bridges are definitely a challenge at higher difficulties. I'm not quite there on Hell yet, but it was a bit hairy at times even on just Nightmare.

Yeah, I was on playing about an hour ago, then I stopped to eat and watch the latest Game of Thrones episode. Came back on, and no dice.

Meh. It'll probably be fixed fairly soon. If not, I may finally start playing Dragon's Dogma.

I've been stuck on one level in Hell for a few days now, end of act 2 I think. I keep having to sign off or something before I complete it, then I have to start back at the beginning of it. I was about 2 minutes away from completing it and they shut down the serves... fk me.

I hate the mobs in ACT III that slam their hand into the ground and create green holes in the ground similar to Belial's special attack. I think they are called Herald's of Pestilence. *******, it drains my health so fast and it forces me to kite. :(

no offense, but get to inferno, give it a go

most people got act1 on farm status, act2 gets exponentially harder, the beginning is like galaca on insane mode, and act3 only gets harder

the game doesn't suck, unless you like to suck, if that makes sense

diablo2 pve is like playing the slot machine, sure it's boring at times and watered down, but it lasted at least 5 years for most people

playing slot machine isn't hard, you just hope you win something, that was what diablo2 was all about, clear a bunch of crap, hope something shiny drops and you collect, getting rare loot with the more desirable attribute should be the hard part, not trying to kill insane champion packs

before lord of destruction, everyone used rares in the game, blizzard has gone back to the model and it's great, i remember crafting 2 all skill with dual leech lances, i had 3 lance barbs, it felt amazing just plowing through hundreds of foes, 1 vs many... you know, like how an A-RPG is suppose to be... now it's more like, tip toe around hard stuff and hope for something weaker to show

i dont want to make it seem like pve is what's making me lose interest; it's really the lack of pvp, pvp was about 90% of the game for me, rest of the 10% was making new chars and running pindlebot

and you know what, they did lie, they lied big time, i didn't even mention the lack of chat, that was a big lie too, and bashiok ended up being the scapegoat

if only torchlight2 has the capital to erect something like battle.net

those things are brutal. they kill my wizard in like 2-3 seconds in hell

most blizzard games are like that. the new content is always pretty tough until everyone gets geared out, then it's farm mode.

Don't gear up until you reach level 60. That's when the good gear becomes available in the AH.

I found a good bow in the auction house for cheap. So my damage is close 5K now.

Eh, grabbing decent items for 20-30k while you're going through Hell is helpful. I typically upgrade my weapons via the AH every 3-5 levels or so. It helps a lot. As a Monk, I've also begun stacking Lightning resist and using the passive to apply it to all resistances. It helps a lot.

As a result, over the last 5 levels or so, I've gone from 5% mitigation via resistance to 35% and from 4k damage to 9k at level 59. I should be able to cruise the rest of the way until Inferno (except against molten, invulnerable minions elites... screw that).

At sub-level 60, I don't even spend 20-30k on items (unless you meant cumulatively?). The most I'll spend is 10k on an item, and I'll really rather only pay 5k or less. Even at that price, you can find good stuff to tide you over until 60, at which point you may as well break the bank to get the best items possible.

I didn't even enter the AH at all until I had characters at level 56 at the end of Act II Hell, but I'm glad I didn't wait until 60. I was having trouble beating Belial solo with my WD and DH, and the items I got definitely helped.

When leveling new characters, if you want to level as fast as possible it is helpful to know that there is no level limit on gems like D2 had. So you can put the most powerful gems you can find on low level characters who have socketed gear making them extremely overpowered. I don't know that I would recommend it for your first play thru, but it can make leveling alts much faster.

nothing wrong with hitting the AH before max level, just have to know what you're willing to spend, set the limit to 5k and you'll be surprised at all the stuff you can get

most people just want to part ways with their rares, instead of vendoring, they drop it on the AH at low value hoping it sells quickly and for 5x the vendor amount

    gold find > magic find
