I spend way too much money at the AH.

I don't know really how to price the buyout for items, any suggestions? If a sell price is, lets say, 576, I'll typically have the starting bid at 1000 and the buyout at 5k (so usually about 10x the sell price). I've listed about 20 items, probably 6 of which were purchased. I feel like some of the items could possibly go for way more than I'm listing, which may be a problem. If people were to search for a piece of armor with a buyout price of 20k and don't include more search fields, my product wont be listed on their search because the buyout price is much lower and the AH will only list a certain number of items...

I don't know if that makes sense. I feel like the AH is pretty weak when it comes to searching, there should be more done to it.

Yea I posted on here a few days ago that you can seriously exploit the game by buying great gear on the AH for cheap. Well, I'm in Act 3 in normal and the AI seems to have adjusted and is now much harder. Either that or I just suck.

I agree the AH search is weak, bu tif they put 20k in the buyout search it gives everything 20k and lower, so yours will still be there. But because it is so overloaded at times, it may be on page 15. the thing that gets me is mine keeps showing stuff that has already expired and stuff that is sold. Is there a way to filter that out. I hate to find a nice item then see that it was expired already.

Well, sometimes if you search for just 'chest armor <20k' and nothing else, you'll get to the last page and the buyout is like 19,500. There's too many listings.

Maybe they should somehow show similar items listed, so that if you're looking at something for 20k and someone else listed it for 5k that's pretty much the same specs (+/- some of the specs).

Or Maybe I should just start listing all my stuff for 20k, rather than 5.

The AH needs to be 'in-game', at the base camp area, not outside of the game. You need to be able to directly compare any item in your inventory, not just items you are wearing.

There is no WAY this setup can stay this way.

They have a pretty darn good AH setup in WoW, why not just make it similar to that?

Also, why no name search? Since the modifiers seem to create consistent specific names (or partial names anyway), that would be a really good way to search for item you are trying to sell, to see similar items and not either over or under-price your merchandise.

As it is, I would have to literally WRITE THE STATS DOWN on a piece of paper if I want to sell a type of item I can't wear, in order to be able to compare while I am searching.

It is completely stupid the way they have it set up.

Someone please tell me they are going to revamp this thing, and soon..

    gahhhhh

Or, alternatively, are third-party add-ons going to work with D3, like they do in WoW? Maybe that will be the way out of this dark nasty mess..

    Nero,

Seems like the AH was an afterthought. Like "hey, we have an AH in WoW, let's just throw something like that in this". lol.

    E_Saiyan,

Parts of Act III were harder, but it still wasn't difficult. For most of it, I ran around with level 11-20 gear, I think, before I said I needed to upgrade the equipment. I wasn't really socketing anything until the Act III boss fight. Even that boss fight wasn't anything special. If anything, it was a letdown.

On a side note, I have to admit, I had forgotten how cool the "heaven" characters were. The cut-scene going into Act IV was pretty sweet. How they depict angels blows away how they show the Evils, IMO.

Wait, why don't you just sort by buyout price?

How I search... enter stats of what I want, set a maxium buyout (which get rid of items without buyout), sort to the minimum buyout, decide if I want to buy it.

Sometimes if you're not specific on all the stats you want, the list is so large that the AH doesn't list all the items, just the ones closest to your max buyout.

They might actually have all the items there, but since the AH sucks, it gets stuck after only a dozen pages or so.

loved the demon hunter in beta, not loving her so much in inferno, switched to barb, dropped over 2mil on AH, working through a2 inferno now

blizzard must have r****ds for game testing, nothing is even remotely balanced

how do they nerf smoke screen and not do anything about wizards

i think they're going to keep things messed up for the RMAH, so people will feel the need to drop an easy $10 for something going for millions of gold

In some games, certain levels are better known for specific purposes. Some will be better for experience/leveling, others larger gold drops or better (rare) items. Is there anything like that in Diablo, or is everything just random and you keep playing the game through?

I'm not sure whether I want to spend money on the RMAH. Lol.
I don't even know what anything is truly valued in the gold AH, I'll probably get ripped off in the real money one.

For a game that took several years to develop, it's lack of polish is a severe dent in Blizzard's rep.

    Holy. WOW.

Ok, I spent some time last night shopping in the AH.

It's a mean bad yucky experience, but it was still worth it.

Putting in the max buyout is the best way to see if there is anything even close to what you need in the range you are willing to pay. After first just typing in the stats I was looking for, and seeing page after page after page of items going to 10,00 and more, I finally said, what the heck, put in a max buyout of 1,000, and bam, pretty much the same items for less than 1,00 gold each.

I even dropped it down to 600 and still found four phenomenal items, two hand weapons , some new boots and a new belt.. spent less that 3,000 on all of them, and my DPS more than doubled. THAT was worth it.

In particular, for the Monk, I found items with a nice high recharge rate on Spirit, AND add-to-life on each hit.

I instantly became the kind of player who can wade into a massive pack of bad guys and GAIN health while absolutely laying waste to everything in sight.

Ok it was the most fun I have had in the game so far. Did the 'Ravenous Beast' in the basement last night, and basically was able to just stand there in front of him and punch him in his ugly face, and with Dodge on, and life on hit, his attacks could not keep up with the life gain, so I was still standing there at full when he went down after about fifteen seconds or so.

So yeah, use the AH, but definitely don't overpay. It's a buyer's market, at least now at first.

Yeah I figured this out too. I was wondering why some of my decent stuff was not selling even though it was priced reasonably. So I searched for a real low number and found several really good items for under $700. Items that were close if not better than what I was selling.

I also found that if you want to narrow it down even better put a level range in. If you don't, you get everything from level 1 to whatever you currently are. I found a lot of scans for level 8 items even though I was 32. I made my search for 25-32 and it cut down the junk significantly.

    Energy Armor
    Skill Rune - Force Armor
Amount of damage absorbed from a single attack will now cap at 100% of a player’s maximum Life

That's a bigger nerf than DH.

This is why I'm not buying anything from the AH (on Normal, anyway). That would pretty much kill the game for me. lol.

Yeah, but it'll all balance out once you jump the difficulty levels. :p

Definitely don't use it on Normal... the gear you find should be more than adequate to get you through. If you're wanting to move on to Nightmare, Hell, and Inferno, the AH is a must. Towards the end of Nightmare, I purchased a weapon that did 240 DPS (about 2,000 DPS with stats and bonuses) and thought I was absurdly overpowered. Then I started Hell and quickly realized just how weak I was. I'm in Act 2 of Hell right now with 6,000 DPS and die at least once on just about every elite pack or rare enemy I come across.

Crap. I just started Act 2 on Hell but only have 4,200 damage... I'm already dying almost every elite pack, sometimes multiple times. Sounds pretty rough.

I do have a good amount of vitality though, so my health pool is about 25,000. At least I think that's a good amount...
