I have not played it on PC and there is a sequel coming out in just a few months, but Left4Dead is the best 360 game to come out in quite a while. Possibly the best ever imo.
I'm really starting to hate Steam now. I only wanted to check out a few games, but at this pace, I'll own hundreds of games by the end of the year. For example: http://store.steampowered.com/news/2639/ http://store.steampowered.com/news/2631/
Yep, Steam has finally become what it should have been from the begining. I always told myself I would NEVER buy games online when I could get the actual disk for the same price. But then Steam started all these sales. Loving it.
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6212981.html?om_act=convert&om_clk=newstop&tag=newstop;title;2 LucasArts staring to put their back catalog on Steam has me excited. Now if they'll just put Grim Fandango and Full Throttle up, I'll be content.
If you are looking for a short puzzle/action/adventure game, check out Trine. The demo is enjoyable, and gives a good glimpse of the potential of the game. The gameplay is very close to Lost Vikings with a little more focus on combat.
He said he wanted games that people may have missed/under the radar kind of games. I don't think games like Fallout or AoE qualify.
Games that have stolen my childhood..... Diablo 2: LOD Starcraft Tried to get into Warcraft 3 and learn dota but its kinda hard to get into, especially when everyone acts likes dicks to noobs.
After browsing this thread, I am thinking we might be able to set up a clan for the coming new ladder season ....... of course, I am talking about Diablo 2, LOD, 1.13.
I actually pulled out the old Diablo2 and LoD disks and installed them the other day, and have been playing like an insane fanatic since then. Remembering the times I played through it all before, decided to try something different this time and be a Sorcerer (ess?).. Anyway, I am already to the point where I have too much money and nothing to spend it on, and not enough storage space.. bah Even have my big lunkhead tank dude all decked out in armor and weapons... But I never ventured online on Battle Net with it, so what's the deal? A clan? Why? How? How does one even play D2 online? What's the point of that? Just curious..
That's how I start up also. i just want to play one character but then a lot of stuff drops and I think 'hey this would all work really well for this kind of character' and all of a sudden I have max characters in an account, and half are just made to hold stuff. The benefit of online is that there exists stuff that is unavailable offline (unless you use an editor). Some insane runewords, thats the only real benefit item wise. Also online offers the craziest challenge in that you get to fight uber (as they call it) versions of the 3 main bosses all at once.
Mount and Blade is a really good under the radar game, though kind of limited. It's a first person medieval warfare game where you are also in command of a small army. There's a demo on the website. http://www.taleworlds.com/
Try Crossfire. It's free & very addicting. FPS type game, very much like Counter Strike. http://crossfire.subagames.com
This is a game I bought a while back. I like it, but it's nothing great. It's the same repetitious stuff over and over to me. You're like one big errand runner if you decide to join one of the factions. Maybe I'll try it again, but I played for about 2-3 weeks and it got to be old pretty fast.
But Starcraft does? In any case, I could argue that Fallout 1 or 2 had a cult following but was severely under the radar compared to number 3. Most people hadn't even played Fallout until #3 came out.
