Bah, the Rockets aren't making any moves so there is nothing else to do.

    I vote GP.

Oh, that's right. The Rockets aren't making any of our other dreamcasts, so lets just make some more **** up and vote on it. Let's just dream all day and not pay attention to reality, let's not just acknowledge scoops that land in the real world, but let us create imaginary ones and then make polls voting on them, let us have every other thread dedicated to this. Let us post made up trade ideas as if they were late breaking news so that everyone is duped into viewing our threads.....

Look, the Rockets are going to make a move. There is a lot of damn time left to make moves. Is it going to be an all star, a former all star, Kirk Hinrick, Luke Ridnour, Jason Kidd, Prince and the New World Order.....I doubt it. Let's just be happy when they land some role players in here to back up our two superstars. If Yao and TMac can't lead this team, it doesn't matter anyway. I don't mind looking at trade ideas, as long as they have an ice cube's chance in hell of melting.

but an ice cube's chance of melting in hell is 100%. so you're saying you don't want to hear about trade ideas unless they're definitely going to happen? :D I've never heard that expression before.

If you think that's the question, then I got a better one for ya: Why would Payton want to play in Boston? I am a Boston fan, but they are just God awful. Ainge is off his rocker.

I'm not saying that we will win the title this season, but I wouldn't be surprised.

The problem isn't that Payton wouldn't come here, and the problem isn't that Payton doesn't want to play for the Celts.... The problem is there is not way in hell that CD is going to see an over the hill, inflated ego b****boy as our answer at point guard when we have two young superstars.

Boston took on Payton and Fox because they will help this year and be gone next.

We understand you don't like Payton, that's fine. But don't make it sound like he's useless.

Even his numbers from last season, his poorest season ever, would be great on this team.

His ego? Who's going to be the leader on this team, Yao or T-Mac? Maybe JJ, maybe Howard. But Payton is a leader.

So if you don't want Payton, defend your argument, but don't make it sound like he's Darrick Martin or something, because that's simply not true.

But then again why would payton want to play for us? Isnt this a situation simmilar to the lakers where he struggled? being the 3rd option will not suite well for him so forget payton.

To be fair, GP wasn't angry over his smaller role with LA. He was annoyed because he wasn't allowed to get out on the break and post his man up all the time. He'd be allowed to do both more frequently here.

That said, I don't think we have a shot at him. Deke would be a great backup center.

My argument against Gary Payton is why would be try to pick up a has been to try to gel with our two young superstars. That would be like Toronto trying to get Hakeem back in the day. Veteran leadership only goes so far. Payton does not have the speed or playmaking capabilities to mesh with our two big names and there is absolutely no point in pursuing him when we could go after younger players who haven't had their best days yet. Everyone acts like if we don't get a player right now then we are screwed and we only have the option of picking up players that are in the news.... have some patience.

Valid points. One thing's for certain though: we need another PG.

Lue cannot handle all the minutes at PG. He has his little flaws, and aside from that, what if he goes down?

If we can't get Daniels, or any other of the mentioned names, I say Payton would be a good idea. It wouldn't cost us much.

I would worry about him, JJ and JH sharing the court with Yao, but I really think they can co-exist and they should be able to respect each other. If Payton decides he wants to play here, he knows what he's getting into, which hopefully means he's adjusted his mentality to "defer to Yao and T-Mac".

However, if other options are available, I say we go to someone else. But right now, Payton would be nice.

Personally, I'm digging Frank Williams right now, which is very conveniant, because hopefully we can get him and Deke together while only giving up a part of the TE and Pike. Having Mutombo backing Yao up and Frank Williams splitting time with Lue would be tremendous.

    Yao/Mutombo
    MoT/Howard/Spoon
    JJ/Boki/AG
    T-Mac/Williams/AG/Gaines
    Lue/Williams/Gaines

Hopefully, one of either Gaines or Williams can be molded into our PG of the future. In fact, the chances of that happening are pretty good and we have a good team for the coming year.

I hope we aren't serious about trading for Payton. I'm ok with the fact he's on the tail-end of his career, but I am SERIOUSLY NOT OK with the fact that he's GARY ****Head Payton. I'd sooner have Karla on the team than Paytons' whiney, two faced, back-stabbing ass on a team I care about like the Rockets.

Now, Mutombo would probably be cool; and also fill the bill nicely for our need of a solid backup center.

    I believe Sanjaylucknow is either

    - CD

    or

    - someone else who is either in or close to the NBA business.

I am not a big fan of Payton, I think he is a punk.

BUT, he would be a MASSIVE upgrade at PG for the Rockets.

TE for Payton would be a very good deal for the Rocks.

Mutombo? He is washed up !!

We need a starting PG worse than a backup center.
