I went to Bullritos for lunch and my debit card wouldn't go through. They ran it several times and typed in the card number. While they were trying to get it to work, I checked my bank account on my phone just to make sure disaster hadn't struck. After finding all my funds intact, I told them to just forget it and turned to leave to get cash from an ATM. The employee stopped me and told me that the woman behind me, without saying a word, paid for my meal. I told her that she didn't have to do that, that I would go get cash, but the transaction was already complete. She told me it happens and that she was happy to do it. We proceeded to have a nice conversation wherein I thanked her several times. I have been down on people in general for the lack of kindness I've been seeing lately, so this was a small but lasting gesture for me. It does the heart wonders just to see kindness in action. Just thought I'd share with the CFers. TL;DR - People can be cool sometimes.
Had a similar experience not too long ago. I pulled up at the window at Whataburger about a month ago, to find that the person in front of me paid for my meal while paying for theirs.. Decided to pass along the kindness to the car behind me and pay for their meal. Of course, as fate would have it.....their meal was twice as expensive as mine.
That's mostly why I felt bad about it, the meal I order is twice as expensive as anything a normal person would pay for.
Oh well-- she could have bailed when the clerk told her how much it was... If you still feel a little bad, you can always pass on the kindness next time you are in the drive-through line or at the Bullrito's payment counter. Side Bar-- Bullrito's is the t***. Love their carne asada..
No idea, just used it at an ATM and there was no issue. It's a bit old so maybe some machines can't read it.
