well, to clarify a bit.... i dont think everything rudy has ever done to be disappointing, but in the past 4 years i would definately say the vast majority of things he did (or didn't do in his case) were quite disappointing. and you cant say ming was utilized to his full potential, how many times were you left wondering "why the hell is yao not getting the damn ball??"

as for kenny, he played well last year, but come on, with all the players we had out, someone had to put up good numbers.

The more I think about it the more I don't understand the fascination with Van Gundy.

He was coach of a bunch of mediocre teams, in the Eastern Conference. He had one flukey run, congrats to him . Then his team sunk back into mediocrity, culminating in his best player complertely ignoring him, and his team flat out quitting on him.

    Puedlfor,

Just because you say it's fluky, doesn't mean it was fluky.

To tell you the truth, personally, I believe that season was a major overachievement, and it can be attrbuted to Van Gundy's coaching. Didn't they have like 20+ games in a row holding teams below 100 points? That's coaching.

    Who was playing for them?

the Knicks are a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE team, and have been for the past years. In fact, this year's squad, which missed the playoffs, if head and shoulders better than Van Gundy's Knicks squad. He coached mediocre teams, but the only reason they were EVEN mediocre was because of this guy.

I do, however, agree that his style may not suit the Rockets, especially Yao Ming.
