I mean, that is about as timely as Kanye rushing T-swift. What a douchelord. I don't care if he has some good analysis based on stats. Keep that ish to yourself. Wait awhile.
I am not sure if it's racism. But this kind of cynicism, negativity, and smart as$$ attention grabbing is quite prevalent among sports writer, IMO. It's just that this time, the attitude is actually applied to real life situations, not the fantasy world of professional sports.
Not condoning what he said, but I think the "condom" statement has more to do with disease not procreation.
You know, I didn't feel like wasting time formulating a response about Shirley's points, but you summed it up here. You can't expect someone born into poverty in a 3rd world country to just move somewhere else. You need money to legally immigrate into a new country. And being dirt poor, most countries aren't leaping to accept you. Even if you did it illegally, you need to find the money for a flight, learn a new language (unless you go to France), and if you're lucky find a job as a homeless illegal immigrant. Sure...I don't know why these people didn't move a long time ago. BTW, a lot of money will go to the immediate help of saving lives, not rebuilding infrastructure. If someone has been in a car accident due to driving on icy roads (bad idea) I'll still help even though 'they deserved it'.
I understand. I guess I interpreted it in a different manner because it seemed like he was completely against everything Haiti related. Overall just a poor attempt at looking at things from the other side by Shirley, its such a sensitive topic for most, and the amount of deaths regardless of poor structure is pretty horrendous, they are still human beings at the end of the day. He was just to harsh with the delivery and now hes jobless....
The contempt for poor people, in general, was what was so distasteful to me. It's no coincidence that all of these people who are so willing to offer advice and "hard truths" to people while they are still digging out bodies have never sniffed poverty in their lives. I don't think ESPN should have fired him. I would rather his ignorance be explored and demolished in a public forum and he would go home and shoot himself in the face, but you can't have everything.
Ah...... Paul......... Do you know Haitians are famous for Black Voodoo? I scare for your health and life now...............
He was a freelance contributor (that means he doesn't work for ESPN) who hadn't had anything published on ESPN.com since 2008...how could he be "fired"? LOL.
really? I was just looking over his basketball blog which loked like it ended when his career did I imagine. On the plus side for him, it's the first time anybody has mentioned him in years.
