Sorry, just had to quote this so everyone knows I laughed real hard. For all you wrote there isn't one actually argument in favour of Pierce to put him over the top. I'd try and reply to some of your comments but they are confused and all over the shop. My opionion, Tracy is overall the better play. In terms of shooting, I want to see what he does next season when he has recovered.
The most underrated player of this generation versus the most overrated. Have to go with Pierce. McGrady may score a lot of points, but he disappears when it counts.
Agree. So many people love to argue on how Mcgrady is "injured' and that if he was healthy he would be ELITE. DING DING DING to those talking about Paul Pierce not doing anything last year, first off, his team was TRASH. Second, he only played in 47 games.
Tracy led the Rockets to the playoffs but had a good half season boost of help from Yao. Paul Pierce led his team to one of the worst records in the weak East. So did McGrady years ago, not like he doesnt have that distinction on his resume. McGrady with Garnett and Ray Allen would be almost but not quite like this year Kobe with Gasol and Odom. McGrady has much better playoff stats than Pierce but Pierce's team is more succesful in the playoffs. Paul Pierce's team also had more regular season success this year and for the most part stays healthy, unlike McGrady who you sort of but not really count on. Both of them play well against Lebron. Paul Pierce is still playing so you have to go with him now
Paul Pierce is a thug. Barely at the threshold of All-Star level, if even. Tracy Mcgrady is way more talented and an absolute beast. During his days of dominance, Tracy Mcgrady was the best in the league offensively, and I don't know how anyone can dispute that. I'd take T-Mac over Pierce any day of the week.
Of course I prefer McGrady but Pierce never ceases to amaze me. I have never seen a guy with such a girly build do what he does. I swear he is Cheryl Miller without her wig.
HAHAHA!! Yea don't get me wrong I love Mac... He's one of my favorite players of all time with his smooth effortless style and he IS an absolute beast in the playoffs (first round), and just unfortunately can't seem to get over the hump. Also, there is no doubt that Tmac is overall more talented, but Truth is ridiculously talented as well. Plus, Truth can actually hit a wide open 3, Tmac needs to pull up off the dribble or have a guy in his face to hit one... Truth can lead the league in FT%. Truth works on improving his game, Tmac just games and sees what happens with it... Truth is more durable and takes it to the hole strong on a much more regular basis than McGrady. Truth is an excellent defender when putting forth the effort, and so is Tmac... Truth will likely be playing against Kobe in the finals this year and has been to the Eastern final in the past with a scrub team with guys like Antoine Walker and Ricky Davis and he carried those guys... Truth has been out of the first round multiple times... So as much as it pains me to say it (b/c like I said I absolutely adore Tracy), the fact is that at this point, Truth is a better player in every aspect of the game except passing.
I love Pierce, he's overcome a lot to be the player he is today. Remember he got stabbed in the back 7 times was it? But to me, Tracy is more talented and can impact the game better than Pierce even if he is not scoring. After watching the Cavs series, I was thinking about how Tmac's passing could make the Celtics team better. Nobody really got KG or Ray Ray easy open shots. They had to create for themselves. Pierce made a few plays here and there, but not as much as Tmac would've.
TMac is a better individual talent ...but PP would make our team better next to Yao, IMO. TMac/Yao combo < PP/Yao combo. Frankly, Garnet and TMac together would be deadly. TMac's problem often is motivation and trust in his teammates. Garnet wouldn't put up with any of TMac's BS. Everytime TMac had a pullup 30 footer at the beginning of the shotclock, Garnet would get in his face and tell him to stop doing that stupid $h1t. Yao is too nice whever TMac does something stupid. On the other hand, PP plays with more heart and passion and is a better shooter which I feel would be a good fit next to Yao. Not to mention TMac's health issues. If I could do a straight-up trade, I'd do it.
Wikipedia: - Superstar is a term used to refer to a celebrity who has great popular appeal and is widely-known, prominent or successful in some field. He's widely known. He successful (obviously he's in the finals). He's one of the best 3 point shooters of all time. He's an 8 time All Star. Hold NBA record for most 3 pointers in a season. Has never shot below 42% in a season. Has gotten out of the 1st round. Holds career averages of 21.1 ppg. Has never shot below 35% in threes in a season. Plus, he's pretty clutch at times.
I am not too thrilled with T-Mac's play for us overall, but I will admit that if you replaced Pierce with T-Mac, Boston would have swept the entire East. KG and Allen can spread the defense like crazy, T-Mac can hit te midrange and interior shot like crazy. His passing would be ridiculous. Can you imagine how good a passing team they'd be? How much easier the game would be on Rondo? Pierce, IMO, would struggle on the Rockets.
They are very similar players. I don't see how anyone can reasonably argue that one is clearly better than the other at this point in their careers. During their primes, I would have taken Tmac. Now, they are pretty even except T-mac is a better passer and Pierce is a better shooter. In the Rockets offense, I'd say shooting is at a premium.
Paul Pierce is solid and more durable. I'd take Mcgrady's best over PP's best any day....... but the thing is.......... Mcgrady doesn't bring his best night in and night out.
People dont give Mcgrady credit for his mid range shooting. Hes by far one of the best in the league at it. Even better then the all mighty Kobe
