Until Paul walks, Griffin demands a trade, they are unable to land Howard, and they make another bad coach hire because they try to go cheap again.

Then the Clippers become more Clipperish and the world seems back in order.

Doc Rivers is a black coach with a ring that is liked by the media and players.

You can't put a dollar figure on that.

Looks like they're back talking again, according to Woj.

So much for the Celtics being the 'desperate team'

I'm content with this deal not happening, unless Clippers lose Griffin or Bledsoe.

Clips deserve everything they get with the long term consequences of this. They're probably going to end up giving up Bledsoe and sacrificing potential better deals down the road to get CP a coach he wants and an aging veteran. They will surely be better short term with KG and Doc, but two years from now when KG is done and they have no good trade pieces and little cap space they are going to be right back in the same boat they are in now.

All the media was saying Ainge was asking too much, yada, yada, yada.

Ainge is a good GM. He knows the game. He knew Paul would come back and make a difference or he would just go somewhere else. Ainge had all the strings to pull, the pressure on Doc coming back, the pressure on Pierce of trading him someplace like ATL and have him play out the string there instead of getting to LAC, the pressure on KG to have to simply retire instead of collect his $18 million. Ainge was holding all the strings all the time. Don't know why most people can't see through all this crap.

This deal will get done now and the Clippers will make the concessions.

And that's good. That means no Dwight/Paul tandem. Because Clips will have another contract that they can't move.

It took a couple days for it to dawn on the Clippers that once July 1 hit, they were going to be moved to the back shelf. The pressure has been on the Clippers the whole time.

Clippers GM Chris Paul taking over negotiations!

With a full understanding that free agent Chris Paul wants this deal completed, the Los Angeles Clippers re-engaged the Boston Celtics on the Kevin Garnett-Doc Rivers negotiations on Wednesday afternoon, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

The Clippers walked away from the talks on Monday morning, insisting that Boston's asking price of DeAndre Jordan and two first-round picks was too steep of a price for Garnett.

Clippers management believed Boston would eventually come back to them out of a belief that the Celtics-Rivers relationship would be difficult to repair, but league sources told Y! Sports that Paul's desire to play for Rivers – and with Garnett – has been a significant motivator for Los Angeles.

The Clippers have negotiated a five-year, $35 million deal with Rivers that could be worth as much as $8 million annually with incentives, sources said. Garnett will waive his no-trade clause to be a part of the deal. The Clippers would have to pay a $3.5 million trade kicker on Jordan's contract.

Behind the scenes, there have been several factions trying to restart the talks, and everyone involved – the Clippers, Celtics and Rivers – have been waiting for someone to make the first move, sources said.

"The money is not a hang-up in this right now," a league source told Yahoo! Sports. "It's about the draft pick."

The Celtics have insisted on two first-round draft picks in the deal, but the Clippers have wanted to include only one.

Privately, Clippers officials are expressing a stronger optimism about getting a deal complete, sources said.

That deal was already in place, it wasnt just that.

They were paying heavy on the compensation side though along with Ainge also wanting 2 picks

Crappy thing is it might be even easier if Billups wasn't trying to come back again... if thats the case they should just trade Willie Green at least so the dude can get some playing time.

A near certainty he stays. Getting this deal done will cement that, lock it in, whatever you want to say.
