I had a similar idea...

The Rockets trump the Clipps....send Asik, Lin, power forward of Boston's choice AND Mchale to Boston for KG and Doc. We find a salary dump to clear the remaining space needed for CP3, and we get KG to sign for the MLE.

CP3
Harden
Parsons
KG
Dwight

I'll say it again, Boston has NO leverage.

Sure they do. The Clips are desperate to show CP3 they are improving the team so he won't walk.

That's their leverage.

CP3 isn't leaving. Beyond that, Doc Rivers isn't going to be coaching Boston either way. It's so obvious that's the case; they absolutely CANNOT bring him back after this fiasco. KG might retire or at MAX has one year left on a mediocre Boston team. The Boston assets have no value to them, so obviously they can't say "Well, sorry but no thanks, we can use Doc and KG."

Yes but is taking on DeAndre Jordan at 2 more years at 11 Mil plus a 15% trade kicker and a late first round draft pick worth more than just letting Doc and KG ride off into the sunset.

How does that change their situation for the worse from 3 weeks ago?

I guess if they feel that Jordan is better than nothing they might blink first. On the other hand, maybe they want the cap space more. He's not all that.

Now they're haggling over draft picks.

Boston has relented on Bledsoe and relented on the Clippers taking back Terry or Lee.

Celtics want an additional draft pick(2 total first round picks) and it has come down to a straight swap of Garnett for Jordan plus those picks.

why do the Celtics want 1st round picks?

They will be late 1st round, those are guaranteed contracts that don't usually amount to anything.

possibly to help grease the skids on a Pierce/Gordon trade with the Pelicans.

I'm still trying to figure out how the Clippers who are currently at 45.3 million in cap space (about 46 million after the trade....Garnett and Jordan make about the same money next year) are going to be able to sign both CP3 and Dwight to max contracts.

Even with a Bledsoe/Griffin sign and trade, they are about 7-9 million short in salary.

Maybe dump Caron Butler? Make a deal with both CP3 and Dwight to take 15 million each?

Ha, I love that LA thinks they're doing Boston some sort of favor.

Yeah, we'll give you Jordan and a mid-to-late first round pick!

Is this where we scream KAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHNNNNNN DONNNNAAAALLLDDDDD!

LOLOL Could give them 11th hour pause, ha!

Stop the tomfoolery already. Doc doesn't want to stay in Boston. That's been made clear. He left, he quit, he's too good for those other guys. Doc is beyond rebuilding.

Hey K-Mac, go to work! ;)

Even though I was opposed to this move a few weeks ago.

How about we just trade Harden and McHale for KG and Doc? It makes the Rockets deadlier.

If Lin can play with Harden, Lin can play with CP3. Then we have a 3 big rotates between Asik, KG and Dwight at the 1 and 2. And rotate between CP3, Lin and Bev. Seem like a win-win to me.

NOTE:

If Garnett/DeAndre goes down without Clips taking abck a contract then Clips could move out Blake/Bledsoe/Butler/Crawford to teams like ATL, MIL, UTA and a few other eams that could open up cap room...for the best package of future draft picks and then the Clips could sign Dwight outright if Dwight and CP3 really want to play together.

That's a little over $29 million of salary a team has to take on but would probably be worth it since Butler and Crawford are expiring deals that would very will have trade value at the deadline and of course Blake/Bledsoe hold obvious value.

Enough value that once the Lakers saw this coming, they would probably preempt the bidding war and move Dwight for Blake/Bledsoe.

Bottom Line:

If Deandre/KG goes down without any contracts going back to Clippers then if Dwight and CP3 really want to play together in LA, and the Clippers are amenable to moving Blake for Dwight..it will get done.

I don't think I've seen anything like this before but it's possible to trade a coach from one team to another?

When accounting for salary cap total, do the coaches' salaries count in too?

They aren't really trading him. They're releasing him from his contract and non-compete clause (and that's where LA would compensate them with a draft pick(s). The Clippers would have to sign him to a new deal then.
