I suspect there’s more to this story but I agree that people who violently attack people shouldn’t get probation. Or pardons.

30 years is alot of time for a gay lover dont you think?? According to you they were gay lovers so it seems strange the lover would be sentenced to 30 years huh??
30 years seems a lot for the crime he committed, relative to how other people get off with much lesser sentences.
But you had said there was no crime committed and that Paul allowed the man inside the residence cuz they were gay lovers? Dont you remember your talking points from the other thread which you stated they were gay lovers??
Are we arguing that 30 years is too harsh for beating an old man with a hammer or that five years of probation, and a strict behavioral and mental health treatment program (was supposed to be 12 years prison) is too lenient for stabbing an old woman? How are the two events even related?
i agree that its a long sentence, but the fact that it was a violent politically motivated attack against a government official (or their spouse) should merit a harsher than normal sentence. and the fact that it was a senior citizen should also add a few years. "This sentence is a warning: violence against those who serve the public and their families will not be tolerated," said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland said in a statement released by the Department of Justice. "The Justice Department will aggressively prosecute those who target public servants and their families with violence. In a democracy, people vote, argue, and debate to achieve the policy outcome they desire. But the promise of democracy is that people will not employ violence to affect that outcome." https://www.cbsnews.com/sanfrancisc...mmer-attack-ex-speaker-nancy-pelosis-husband/
I initially agreed with you but I have since been persuaded by a leftist in another thread that leftists should be permitted to stab others when they are angry.
I think this framing is just weaponized to make regular non wealthy politically connected people less valuable in terms of being victims and create a security state around protecting the wealthy during increasing wealth inequality environments.
