Vast majority of the Pacers fans wouldn't. People were discussing that on the pacersdigest after all the articles about how Harden was available for Beal and Klay Thompson. The general sentiment was no. As for the Pacers management... I would guess no too. The Pacers management/ownership is the definition of sticking with their youngsters and being patient, it's been like that throughout 30 or so years of the current ownership.
No, they wouldn't. Defense has been the first priority in player acquisitions by the Pacers at least for the past 3-4 years (since Bird came back, though he has taken this year off).
Danny Ainge back when Lebron was a junior said there might be five players in the nba he wouldn't trade for lebron. I think the same can be said for wiggins. Unless its Lebron or Durant I think he would be traded for Wiggins. I think teams tend to overrate their own players. So pacer fans feel George is better and Rockets fans feel Harden is better. I prefer offense so I would take harden. I think despite his lack of scoring hibert is the most important player for the pacers.
And many Pacers fans would say it's David West. I think Hibbert actually benefits from George more than anyone else on that roster, if he was on a team like the Rockets he'd get exposed a lot due to his lack of mobility in PnR defense. The Pacers perimeter defense - and primarily George - allows him to stand back. George has flaws but there's a lot to like about his upside which makes him the Pacers franchise player.
A shame he didn't fall to us, I know Morey had his sights set on him in that particular draft. Instead we had to settle with Patterson. Crazy that out of all these guys drafted before him: John Wall Evan Turner Derrick Favors Wesley Johnson Demarcus Cousins Epke Udoh Greg Monroe Al-Farouq Aminu Gordon Hayward He was the one that became an All-Star first.... in fact he's the only current All-Star out of that entire draft class. Pretty crazy considering the amount of talent those other guys posses. Says a lot about this young man and his determination.
true. although to be fair, he was also lucky to be drafted by a team that didn't look to tank and had talent around him. I suspect Monroe for example would be an All Star by now if he wasn't forced to play next to the worst PF starter in the league. He was double teamed on most possessions.
Any team would be better with Paul George. He's a young all-star player who impacts the game on both ends of the court at the highest level.
Which is also true, but if you consider each teams roster they have just about equal level of talent... the Pistons' guys just haven't improved the way everyone foresaw them becoming. Brandon Knight - another top 10 draft pick Rodney Stuckey - Chauncey Billups "successor" Austin Daye - another borderline lotto pick Kyle Singler - also a borderline lotto pick Plus they just aquired Jose Calderon this past season for Tayshaun Prince who was part of their core. I'd say now that they added Drummond they should raise their level of play and compete for a low playoff spot next season barring major injuries of course.
He would be a great Rocket. Imagine him at SF next to Harden. That would rival Miami for best wing duo.
His offense needs some work. He's only shooting 39% from the field this post season. He's shooting around 25% from the three point line, what ever happened to his 3 pt shot?
LeBron will play until he's 40, I bet. He uses athleticism as part of his game, sure, but I think he'll figure out how to outsmart age, like Kobe and Duncan.
Despite his post season percentages his shooting has improved a lot this year. He's not a pure shooter so his 3 point shot may not always drop but I love George's game because he can have an off night shooting and be 3/14 but he will still impact the game and make his stamp on the defensive end. Each year he brings something new to his game and out of all his peers (Harden, Curry, Rose, Irving, WB etc.) he has the most potential for growth which is the scary part. The guy is quick, long, strong and athletically gifted enough to effectively guard 4 positions. The only other player that's capable of doing that is LeBron. I think as he continues to improve, gets more experience and gets stronger I think the game will get easier for him. If I'm building a team I'm taking George right after Lebron and Durant.
