Isn't that the same thing CP3 did with LAC? He was on a team with Griffin and Jordan, said he was leaving in the summer, but would accept a trade to another Western Conference playoff team. How did Griffin and Deandre feel about that, and did it even matter? While OKC hasn't been together as long as that LAC team, they feel played out. They had a disappointing 1st year, followed by a 1st round exit. Kyrie was traded to Boston. The Cavs traded Lebron to Miami. While each circumstance is different, crazier things have happened than George getting traded to Houston.
Agree. This may make some recoil in horror, but I've even wondered about a Ryno + spare parts for Carmelo scenario (assuming he opts in against OKC's wishes). I know he's 1 year at $28M compared to 2 years at $20M for Ryno, but when you consider OKC's tax status, the lower per-year amount could be significant... and you know no one else would take Melo. I'm sure Presti would prefer a buyout, but if Melo holds firm... (Have we now traveled back in time?)
Right, if we are able to add a star WITHOUT moving Ryno, I'm not interested in paying future firsts just to dump for LT purposes. I understand if the organization is though. However, I could absolutely see that they'd want to move him to create a TPE to use later that just happens to have potential LT benefits. Say you pay to move Ryno to ATL, generating a $21 million TPE that allows you a LOT of flexibility during the season if something opens up.
I'd be frustrated with Chris Paul, but ultimately if I was getting a positive asset return from OKC... I'd prefer that to the scenario where he signs with the Lakers for nothing. I think Sam Presti and Daryl Morey would, too. By the way, this is pretty much exactly what happened with Chris Paul and the Clippers last year. It's not like the Rockets had cap space to sign him, and they were/are a West rival. In fact, you could argue that the Rockets overcoming the 3-1 deficit on the Clippers in 2015 is what doomed the current generation of Clippers in the first place. CP3 leveraged the abstract threat of leaving in FA to get a trade to the destination of his choosing, which didn't have cap room. The Clippers didn't like it, as evidenced by the hard feelings and quotes since, but management swallowed their pride and did the trade because it was better than the alternative.
People always forget that Lebron did not just sign to play in Miami. Cleveland took the bitter pill to do a S&T with Miami to get "assets." Bitter pills are tough. But at the end of the day, you have to help YOURSELF FIRST, even if it might help a competitor. Not saying OKC would work with the Rockets. And I get how that looks. BUT, sometimes business is business. (That said, CP has all of June so scheme up a storm and send feedback to Morey).
Yep, and that was also Lebron bolting the Cavs for the first time, when he was in his prime, without championship, doing it live on tv...there was a ton of bad blood at the time, but still, Gilbert agreed to a sign & trade. As today the situation is different, they won, Gilbert probably can't wait to part ways with Lebron and lower the payroll. If he can do that by sending him to the other conference while getting something back, why not?
Are you the vivi that was associated with chow yun fat?? Is it true that chow is actually the drama king when he tried to pin that on you, fair vivi? I've been away for awhile and I need answers, dammit!
Yea it’s okay for cp3 to do it because he is a pg.l, and clearly we saw his importance... Cp3 and Harden dribble enough as it is, I actually enjoy how quickly Gordon gets into the offense. He takes a few dribbles and quickly attacks unlike PG. I wouldn’t be mad if he came but at the same time he couldn’t handle Ingles and a rookie...
Nope, it's a reference to a videogame character lol Now that i think about htis though, i actually remember a user naming a vivi in another thread few weeks ago and when i read that i quoted him asking if he was talking about me but he didn't answer so i assumed he was talking about someone else.
PG is leaving. I think management and even the fans are hoping they get something via SnT rather than watch him walk to the Lakers for nothing. I'm in LA and when Dwight was in free agency many Laker fans really wanted him to choose GS so that they wouldn't be empty handed. If OKC ends up getting Eric Gordon via SnT that's a huge win for them, probably actually the best care scenario.
Right, exactly. I've said that I can't see the Thunder helping facilitate this no matter what. They aren't going to give us the finishing piece to a superteam just because we give them Eric Gordon. They'd be stupid and get roasted by fans for years and Westbrook would kill them.
