He might not be the dumbest coach. But he definitely is the dumbest coach with a big ego.

Basically. It's shameful the way he's been treated there over the last two years. Replace Pau with an average all star, the Lakers don't get out of the 2010 Celtics series. Heck, they probably don't get out of the '09 Houston series. They should be thinking about retiring his jersey, instead they've been treating him like trash.

What about 2011 playoffs and 2012 playoffs?

What about them? Decline doesn't erase accomplishments.

As a side note -- no one gets to 4 Finals in a row in modern NBA. That hasn't happened for a long time. It's too taxing, people get old, they don't get enough time off to heal up, and then you add some international basketball. Besides, the Lakers got cheap with role players the last few years.

i just think he deserves better than this 'what have you done for me lately' treatment from the Lakers. The CP3 trade is just something a good GM has to do, but coaches and players using Pau as some kind of a whipping boy lately has been purely disgusting.

The $19M is a bit steep for my liking, but he would definitely be an upgrade over Pat. Pau to me is like Scola. If used the right way, he can contribute on a championship team well into his late 30's. Pau is a finesse player. His game is not dependent on quickness and athleticism. Look at Kevin Garnett. No longer a first option, but still a double double guy. I would be a lot more concerned with lebron or wade in their mid 30's than Gasol. Basketball iq, jump shot, footwork, and post game are the last to go. Look at the 50 year old dude at the Rec that always scores 5 points and gets 5 rebounds in a pickup game without ever leaving his feet.

I love it. I love when coaches call out their players directly in the media. Players are always the ones with the big ego and big mouth. Nice to see a coach do it for a change.

I actually don't mind gasol because the lakers aren't using him right and he's a big upgrade if he comes here

    Would be sick...

When was the last time we had two 7 footers as starters?

2004. I think, Cato at the 4 and Yao at the 5, a Gasol-Asik tandem would be terrific, too bad we don't have enough assets to acquire him, unless a third team is involved, I just hope that the Lakers amnesty him

You're gonna run into the same problem the Lakers did once they dropped the triangle. Unless one of the 7 footers is Dirk Nowitzki, they're gonna have a hard time coexisting in the paint

Then you'll have 2 guys that can't coexist in the frontcourt in addition to 2 guys who can't go coexist in the backcourt

What are you talking about. Asik doesn't even post up why can't gasol and asik play well with each other.

Asik's defender can stay back and basically soft double Gasol. What is Asik going to do?

I think getting Pau would help the Rockets regardless but it's not the best situation for Pau. Or rather, Asik would probably be the one to lose some playing time.

What about putting Pau at the 5, and sliding either Jones or Motiejunas into the starting 4 spot?

    Lakers suck because:

    Kobe is a chucker.
    Dwight smiles too much.
    Gasol whines too much.
    Bench is trash.

Only bright spot: Nash and World Peace (the reason being, rebounding and socking and defending better, just takes ill adivised shots sometimes)
