Oh, forgot to mention that losing Knight's salary after this year would also be a nice benny of the trade.

However, losing Mobes isn't worth this trade.

Why don't we just trade Steve Francis to the Bucks for Sam Cassell and Michael Redd.

Then trade Sam Cassell and Eddie Griffin to the Grizzlies for Pau Gasol and Michael Dickerson and the rights to get back our fist round pick.

Then trade Mobley, Kenny Thomas, Terrence Morris for Gelbert Arenas and Troy Murphy.

    New team is

    PG-Arenas, Moochie
    SG-Redd, Dickerson
    SF-Gasol, Nochbar, Rice
    PF-MoT, Murphy
    C-Yao, Cato

This is another "why the hell would the other team do it?" trade.

PF Eddie Griffin (9.3 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 27.9 minutes)
Houston receives: C Lorenzen Wright (7.5 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 0.5 apg in 20.1 minutes)
PF Pau Gasol (16.6 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 3.1 apg in 34.2 minutes)

Memphis trades: C Lorenzen Wright (7.5 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 0.5 apg in 20.1 minutes)
PF Pau Gasol (16.6 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 3.1 apg in 34.2 minutes)
Memphis receives: C Kelvin Cato (5.3 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 0.6 apg in 7 games)
PF Eddie Griffin (9.3 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 13 games)
Change in team outlook: -9.5 ppg, +4.5 rpg, and -1.9 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Would you do this trade? I'm not saying we should so don't go of with "we don't need a trade". I just just want to hear your opinions on whether this would be a fair trade that would help both teams.

They would be getting a starting center who can defend and rebound and a young player with a lot of potential. We would be getting a starting PF thats 7' tall to team with Ming and a decent backup center. We still have Collier and MoT can and has played the C. Wow is it just me or would this trade make us earily simular to the Mavs?

    Imagine the matchups:
    Ming against Bradley,
    Gasol aginst Nowitzki
    Rice against Walt
    Finley against The Cat
    Nash against Francis
    MoT against LaFrentz
    Najera against Kenny T

    I have a good deal:

    Mike Miller to the Rockets

Stromile Swift and Brevin knight to the Magic

Glen Rice and a Future Protected First Rounder to the Grizzlies

Grizzlies become more balanced, gain scoring, experience, and depth. Magic get an inside player who has been playing very well recently, and potentially a brilliant addition to the T-Mac/Hill duo. Rockets get the SF that fits their team perfectly. We do lose ANY veteran leadership we had, and we will have to be without draft picks for the next 2 or 3 years.

    Cato/Ming
    MoT/Griff
    Miller/T-Mo
    Mobley/hawkins
    Francis/Moochie

    Gasol/Wright/(Declerq maybe?)
    Gooden/Gasol
    Rice/Battier
    Giricek/Dickerson/Battier
    Williams/Watson/Giricek

    Burke/Ho Grant/Hunter
    Swift/Kemp/Humphrey
    Grant Hill/Garritty/T-Mac
    T-Mac/Sasser
    Armstrong/Knight/Vaughn

I think all teams improve, right? Especially if Hill is over some of those ankle troubles. Maybe we can send KT to play SF and PF for them off the bench?

That's the basic deal, numbers still have to be worked on.

I would rather pursue Shane Battier, a guy we have a more realistic shot of getting, and would fill a need for our team...

He isn't getting much love from the Grizzlies and maybe our usual package of KT, Moochie etc. may be enough to bring the guy.

I agree with Sane... that's the guys we should be looking at, SF/SG types like Miller, Desmond Mason, Ron Artest, Shane Battier... we shouldn't worry about the 5,4 and 1, were we are more than set.

I agree. The Rockets need a swingman bigtime. Look at how much Rudy T loves Hawkins. But he isn't going to cut it on the offensive end.

Battier had a better night yesteraday, getting 12 points and 6 boards in 31 minutes.

If Grant Hill stays healthy, I could see Orlando wanting to trade Mike Miller for some frontcourt help. They could use an upgrade over DeClercq and Shawn Kemp for the playoff run...

Are we really set at the 4? They are all good but all have a glaring weekness to their game.

I don't think we are set at the 4 at all. Griffin has not proved anything, KT makes alot of mistakes and never passes, and MoT is not much on defense and is only good when he is hitting his 12 foot jumper.

But we're sticking with Griffin. What's Griffin's weakness? Lack of strength. That's something that can be fixed. As for KT, he lacks height, and Mo T, he just has a nose for where rebounds DON'T go. THOSE can't be fixed. I'm confident that Griffin is our guy though.

Playing in the West doesn't make thigns much easier either.

    We're set here:

    C : Yao Ming
    PF: Eddie Griffin
    PG: Steve Francis

Next season, when Ming is ready to take over full time, Cato+Mobley will make a very very very nice package to net a SF or SG.

You know what would be a good deal after the season? Mobley and Cato for Bonzi Wells and Derek Anderson.

If we trade Cato and Mobley we better get something better than Bonzi Wells and Derek Anderson. I think Michael Redd is a FA after this year, and it would be a very, very, nice puick up if the Rockets signed him. We could play Francis, Mobley and Redd at the same time, because Redd is 6-6.
