this guy is waiting and he's a complete package... can play 3,4 and 5 hustle 3pt range rebound def. etc.....
Figured I would just throw out there that Broussard was on ESPN radio earlier and mentioned that Houston could be in the mix for Gasol here in the coming weeks leading up to the trade deadline. However he did mention that the folks in LA want to give the Nash/D'Antoni/Lakers experiment a good run before they try hard to move Gasol. However, it does seem like the writing is definitely on the wall for Gasol, and he's going to be made the Goat in LA for the first half of their season woes. But I guess all of this is kind of like saying it might rain in Seattle this winter. Is Houston interested in Gasol....Is LA going to make Gasol the Goat???..... Kinda seems like a broken record already. It seems like the most important thing that D'Antoni would want to get in return would be a stretch 4 big man to pair with Howard, then possibly someone they can sell to their fans possibly. That's why the Atlanta Josh Smith/Kyle Korver trade scenarios have been thrown out there. For what its worth (which isn't much) Broussard did say that the pairing of Harden/Gasol would make Houston a contender(his words not mine). All I will say is that if Patterson, and Morris continue to hit the 3 and make a name for themselves in the next few weeks, the Lakers might be the ones ringing Morey's phone off the hook for a Gasol deal, and not the other way around.
Yes let's trade some young players, decimate our shallow bench, help the Lakers take a dump and pick up a $19+M 32 year old declining player...woohoo...
Pau is still good and I would be on board to trade for him. Is he on the decline? Yes, but we just signed Harden who is entering is prime NOW and we need to utilize these next few years to make a run at it. Lin Harden Parsons Gasol Asik
Harden isn't entering his prime now. Maybe in 3-4 years. That in itself is scary. He'll be good for the next 10 years god willing. I like Pau a lot. I don't like his knees or contract, but I do feel like he gets a bad rap on this board. No doubt he makes us better, and could possibly groom Motiejunas. For me it would be a tough choice at this point in his career. Wouldn't throw a fit if we got him that's for sure.
Decent but not motivated. What makes you think he is more motivated with us than with a championship caliber team like the Lakers?
Gotta have thick skin or play flawlessly if you're a teammate of Kobe's. pau has to feel fed up at all the barking
Morey should just cut out the middle man (Lakers) and make the deal for Josh Smith and Kyle Korver themselves. Hawks need a true center (Aldrich) so they can move Al Horford to the 4. Package Aldrich, Patterson/Morris, rights to Llull and lottery protected first. Gasol is no 5 and he and Horford would just get in each other's way.
1. He can still play next to an all star caliber SG 2. He can be the focus of the offense and get more touches 3. He instantly makes us contenders
Lin Harden Parsons Josh Smith Asik I like this one better. Smith is younger/more athletic and will at least stretch the floor, run, block shots and play tenacious D. He is tailor made to play the 4 for this team.
I think you're missing the fact that Pau is the most skilled big man in the game, and still a top 7 big man in the game(find out what NBA bigs have averaged 17PPG and 10RPG in the past 3 years), and add to the fact that Morey has been enamored by him since he became the GM of the Houston Rockets. He's a perfect fit for Houston IF HE'S HEALTHY for an extended period of time its a no brainer. Its a HUGE gamble for the Rockets to trade for him, if he comes on the market once again, but the Rockets have taken worse gambles in the past couple years...cough, cough.... #wordapp, #transparent, but I guess this gamble comes at a 19 million dollar risk next season + whatever assets the Rockets have to give up. Buyer beware whoever trades for Gasol... yes he's 32, and has had reports of tendonitis in both knees, but if for some reason he can keep performing 80% at the same level he has been the last 5 seasons, the Rockets would make for a very interesting team the next 2 or 3 season at minimal cost IF they can give up minimal assets in a trade.
A bit confused... so does that mean if hes traded the lakers only have to pay 1.3 mill or the team recieving his contract would have to pay it? Maybe thats a benefit because i could see the 15% bonus being a hard sale if a team where acquiring him...
But look here, for instance: http://www.netsdaily.com/2012/7/17/3164327/d-will-contract-has-trade-kicker Deron Williams' contract has a trade kicker that would penalize the Nets. I'm unsure about how these work too at this point. I was under the impression that the whole point of these kickers was to disincentive the team who holds his contract from trading him.
Los Angeles Lakers: Mike D’Antoni’s comments signal that it’s time to trade Pau Gasol If you haven’t followed the story closely, you’d have no idea the Los Angeles Lakers had a problem with All-Star big man Pau Gasol. Gasol, traded to the Lakers in 2008 as a deal that swung the momentum in the Western Conference and led to two NBA titles, has been at the center of trade speculation dating back to last season, when he was almost traded in a package deal to the New Orleans Hornets for guard Chris Paul. And since then Gasol has taken the brunt of blame when it comes to the Lakers losing games. But most recently, it was his brand new coach, Mike D’Antoni, who was taking shots at Gasol. KEVIN DING @KevinDing Why did D'Antoni sit Pau down the stretch? "I was thinking I'd like to win this game, that's what I was thinking." 23 Nov 12 Reply Retweet Favorite In a game in which Gasol played the fewest minutes of any starter, scored six points on 3-of-8 shooting with four rebounds and had a team-worst -23, the Lakers fell to the Memphis Grizzlies 106-98. If it wasn’t the first time Gasol has been called out by a Lakers coach, this would be no big deal. But it wasn’t. And with the Lakers season tilting back and forth faster than two even sized kids on a seesaw, it might be time to trade the 11-year veteran. Thanks to ESPN’s trade machine, we here at KJG believe we’ve found the perfect trade partners. The Atlanta Hawks could swap Josh Smith and either Kyle Korver or DeShawn Stevenson in exchange for Gasol’s services. Obviously the key piece would be Smith, who not only would thrive in D’Antoni’s fast-paced system, but would also be reunited with best friend, Dwight Howard. Smith and Howard are running on one-year deals and could be the future of the Lakers if this offseason plays out the right way for LA. Smith is shooting just 20 percent from three and general manager Danny Ferry has made is painfully clear the Hawks are in rebuilding mode. Korver is obviously the piece the Hawks would be tentative to give up. Korver is scoring just over 10 points per game and playing the third most minutes on the team. He’s knocking down 42 percent of his three-point attempts, attempting six threes per game. Having the dynamic Smith and Korver or, to an extent, Stevenson, would give the Lakers a the high-tempo offense D’Antoni loves to run, while Smith would provide another defensive force, making one of the top front courts in the league. As for the Hawks, they would get a veteran forward, who can play the five, moving Al Horford back to the four. Horford could thrive against undersized power forwards and the Hawks would no longer have to worry about a free-shooting forward as a ball stopper from beyond the arc. Gasol also has two years remaining on his contract, allowing the Hawks to move forward with point guard Jeff Teague, Horford and Gasol as the foundation of the franchise. For the Lakers, the time is now to trade Gasol. http://kingjamesgospel.com/2012/11/...-pau-gasol-atlanta-hawks-josh-smith-nba-2012/
