That would make sense, except for one slight problem.... It was his turn. Wandy is pitching on 4 days rest. If Patton would have started today he would have been pitching on 5 days rest. If he pitches tomorrow it's on 6 days rest. My best guess is that Cecil flipped them due to pitching matchups. But it's just a guess.
wandy pitching on 4 days rest would be normal. patton has pitched more innings then he ever has and there were reports of his arm starting to tire before he got called up. this gives him extra rest between starts and keeps wandy in a regular rotation. simple as that.
Ok that makes more sense now. So if we didn't have that off day, chances are that it would have either been Patton or perhaps even Sampson on the mound today.
Certainly can't complain about the pitching over the past 3 days. 3 games...2 runs allowed. It's always nice to see Wandy pitch well on the road.
He owed us one for falling apart at home the other day. Now that we're all even, he'll probably resume Cy Wandy at home and Wandy Jennings on the road.
Now THAT'S the Pence we all know and love. Meanwhile, Twiggy was AWESOME! 0-for-4 with 3 K? Remind me why we're letting Lamb go. What did he do to make the Astros hate him so much?
Casserly's fat twin brother PooPooRah couldn't learn from his last year's major announcement of trading for aubrey puffpuff, he had a case of deja vu and did it again for twiggy thinking he would be neo and save the team from the sentinels. In the end, the architect (uncle drayton) just blew up the monitor showing PooPooRah after he refused to sign the 4th and 5th round draft picks.
I was going to make a new post about this, but so few of us still follow the Astros, so I decided just to post it here. ----------------- Limited time blues Mike Lamb admitted Thursday he wasn't happy when informed Wednesday by interim manager Cecil Cooper that he would have few opportunities to start during the remainder of the season. Cooper wants to keep Lance Berkman at first base and out of right field as much as possible, and Ty Wigginton is considered by the club as the third baseman of the near future. "He basically told me I was going to be a bench player and I was going to pinch hit and play against tough righthanded hitters, and I guess you could say I was less than enthused about it," Lamb said. "But it wasn't unexpected." Lamb, who is hitting .293 with 11 homers and 38 RBIs and made a terrific defensive play at third base Thursday, has had a hard time establishing himself as a regular despite putting up good offensive numbers since joining the Astros in 2004. "I feel like I've performed when called upon and continued to be put back on the bench," he said. "It's frustrating, but that's my job and my role for the last month of the season." Cooper understands Lamb's frustration. "Not to say that (Lamb) is not a valuable member, but (Wigginton) is going be our third baseman and we need to let him play as much as possible," Cooper said. "Mike understands that. It's tough for him, too. "Initially, he was somewhat upset and later came up to me and said, 'Look, I understand.' We have a good relationship. He's one of the ones I kind of kid around with a lot. He's a true professional." Lamb is a free agent at season's end, and it appears unlikely he will re-sign with the Astros. "It makes me want to explore my options," Lamb said. "It's not like this has made it so I refuse to come back. That's not the case."
I can't start a new thread so I thought I would post this here. I'm going out to Wrigley to see the Stros on Sunday and then catching them the next day at Miller Park. Do any of you know what are the likely pitching matchups?
If you look at the first post in this thread, you'll see Sunday's pitching matchup. You'll see a good one on Monday - Oswalt and Sheets.
did well today. only 3 hits allowed. not many watched it because it was on ch 2 and well...college football
Brett Dolan left the Stros game went across town and now is in the booth for the Iowa/NIU game. Astros talk on Hawkeye football.
