Rockets win this game if Greg Smith plays more minutes, even just 2-3 more minutes. Even if he doesn't start (which is what I have been hoping for since the preseason).

Patterson had a nice 3 game stretch, plays better than last season but not great so far

    I dunno...

I think he's regressing. I mean he got a jumper now and can score but he's lost any semblance of toughness...I remember when guys thought he would replace Landry...

It's a insult to compare him to Landry now.

    hmmm.... I see
but how can one guy cause all those defensive loop holes?
Parsons, Patterson, Harden, and Lin on occasions must be slumping on the other end
Asik is phenomenal on O but he does not block many shots

He's just soft all around. It's not really a thing about defense...it's about being soft.

When Patterson gets perfect post position watch as all his moves take him further from the basket. He'll be right there...then turn around and fade or face up and fade. He floats around the three point line a lot...and rebounding? Well, I've yet to see him out rebound his opponent. Has it happened yet? He's almost a complete non-factor on the boards. I mean you'd get more rebounds from starting Kyle Lowry or Rondo at PF than Pat. I'm dead serious there...because rebounding is a half-hustle and half-instincts...and Pat has none of that, even if you don't have the instincts you can get gaudy rebounding numbers just with non-stop hustle...

Defensively he's alright...as in one on one. Team defense...the whole team is struggling defensively. We have some good perimeter defenders too I just think the lack of communication and they do some odd things at times (Like the guards always trying to dig at bigs...leaving their man open...I'm sure this is the coaches telling them to do this since they all do it.)

But lets get back to Patty Cake. He's soft. I hope some team falls for his offense, he should be a nice piece in a trade.

once again Pat setting fake ass soft screens or rather non-screens for the guards and popping off immediately for his open shots

The whole team is soft, we're now officially the worst defensive team in the league :)

Soft power forwrds are hard to trade for value. Maybe we can get a point gaurd that can't pass, or a shooting gaurd that can't shoot, or a center that can't block shots, or MAYBE just one more 6'9" power forward (that we won't play) Well, one can dream.

If Patterson plays center he would get more rebounds.

    He is our best shooter.

    Asik takes his rebounds away.

He still recovering from that surgery.

    He's the pnr defender.

This is all bogus..read the end of this article

    http://nesn.com/2012/12/james-harde...e-success-while-playing-together-for-rockets/

or betteryet let me quote it for you

"There is also an encouraging sign with Houston’s second most-used lineup, in which Marcus Morris simply replaces Patterson. Although that group has played together for only 52 minutes — compared to 289 by the Harden-Lin-Asik-Parsons-Patterson combo — it has posted an offensive rating of 106.5 and a defensive rating of 97.9. Over a full season, those figures would make the Rockets not just a playoff team, but one of the top seeds in the Western Conference. "

what other argument do you need to consider at least putting someone else as a starting PF (be it morris, DMO, TJO or greg smith)

How many screens has PPat refused already this season? He's turned down Lin multiple times.

He just doesn't want to bang on the inside, he's definitely soft. His rebounding numbers are dismal. I think Lin the PG has outrebounded him multiple times. He's a power forward without the "power."
