Patterson defensively, is not much better than Scola. patterson's three point shooting helps spread the floor, but when his shot's not falling, who other than Asik is battling for offensive boards?

Patterson has been one of the most consistent shooters on the team so far this year. 51% from the field and 37% & improving from 3 point range is pretty damn good. The problem with Patterson is that he's only as good as the ball movement is. He has a very high assist percentage. Meaning, most of his points are assisted.

And yes, Patterson, while he's been pretty bad on the glass for a PF, is much better defensively then people give him credit for. Excellent help & team defender. Scola is one of the worst team/help defenders I have seen in a Rockets jersey. He could defend one on one using his smarts, and pesky nature at times, but as a team defender... give me Patterson all day every day.

I do agree about the offensive rebounding, but you have to realize that Patterson has been out in 3 point land quite a bit on the offensive end. Not say he still can't find a way to track the ball better for offensive rebounds, but it should be noted that he's not around the rim much on offense.

Yeah, doesn't say much. that's basically a hot shooting streak. Rebounds are irrelevant because he's a big and should get more than 5. Says more about the other two's rebounding.

Proof that you can't always rely on stats right there.

Patterson doesn't battle for any boards. That is one of his biggest flaws aside from his lack of defense against actual big men, he doesn't battle for anything. Frankly, I'd rather have Scola who along with his more consistent post game would at least make the effort to defend or fight for rebounds.

Can someone name the last time a jump shooting team won a championship, the closest I remember was OKC getting close but the lack of post scoring isn't something I necessarily think a winning team should take pride in.

2 rebounds, no defense. Glad his minutes were taken by Morris.

    That's pathetic.

You have to really try to just get 2 rebounds and being a PF...I mean you have to go out and make that your goal.

He was absolutely terrible...the difference between his lackadaisical style of play and morris' hustling and throwing himself on the floor for loose balls was so much more obvious tonight...too bad morris banged up his knee at the end...I hope it s not anything bad

I also hope for a trade come dec 15 - it s the first day teams can trade players signed over the summer and basically anyone is fair game...patterson to the bench or out the door!

On a night like this where everyone else played their hearts out, 2pat's lack of effort sticks out like a sore thumb.

My visual representation of Pat tonight:

Hard on the outside, soft on the inside, chocolate colored. Pat is a Lindt Truffle with a mustache.

If Patterson had done anything, just one thing, Rockets would've won.

It's pathetic... Patterson really, really does not fit as a starter in this league. He's like a baseball player who can't play defense so you have to stick him at first base, and he can't hit homers, never draws walks, does nothing on the basepaths, but hey! He hits .300, so the manager keeps putting him out there!

The Rockets need something better than a PF who is an empty jump shooter.
