You should know by now that there will always be a very vocal percentage of members here who will always ignore all the positives any given player is showing to focus on the negative and how they should be better. For some people, the best part about sports is the b****ing.
So Ppat is averaging 14 and 5. Paul Millsap is averaging 14 and 8. Paul Millsap is 27 and does not play next to the 3rd highest rebounder in the NBA. Ppat is 23. This is why I don't understand all of the hype around getting Millsap.
he needs to get to the line more. as a starter that avg 15ppg he only gets 1.4 free throw attempts! not makes but attempts! look at the rebounding numbers for forwards that score around the same as patterson, most get more than 5rbs and at least 2rbs http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/stats/b...5&qualified=0&conference=NBA&year=season_2012 he's also the only pf that got 19pts with only 1 rebound similar to brandon bass imo. i dont think he's a legit starter and kg needs more help up front i dunno tho with a 3pt game now, would he do better as a 3/4 instead of 4/5?
it seems that people are to much obsessed with past and current role models and any player that doesn't fit exactly in the mold they proclaim not good enough...they would like all players to be the exact copy of some ideal champion star or superstar...ppat can be a legit starter of our championship team...we can make a championship team that will be unlike any other...it happens every year in sports( and business and life in general as well) all over the world....it doesn't matter if he is not rebounding or boxing out or whatever as long as we are finding other ways to win and improving as a TEAM...this rockets are all about TEAMBALL
Don't fall in love with PPat, you know what happened last year. Greg Smith may be the oldest tenure for the Rockets, if PPat is tweeting "Wheels Up" elsewhere.
I think people see his frame and think he will be more of a bruiser type. He gets in the pant, he tries to do a layup. He also shoots a lot of jumpers. When landry was here,he would get the ball in the paint and try to dunk on guys. He would also rebound in traffic . He's at least found his niche whether people like it or not. He's a mo taylor type of player for better or worse.
Its not like Patterson is afraid of dunking, in fact he is probably the team leader in dunks. He just is too bulky to do a standing leap dunk like Jones and Landry can, he needs to be moving. This limits his in the paint dunking. Also I think you are mis-remembering about Landry, he was an average rebounder at best while here.
I recalled Landry being a mediocre defensive rebounder but good offensive rebounder due to his hustle after the shot. Has he done anything since leaving the Rockets?
Patterson repeating his rookie stretch of unsustainable awesome shooting. The only shots of his that come with high degree of difficulty are the ones originating from his back to the basket game, which are also the most critical to his development, I'll be paying attention to these with the hope of seeing the PatPat we hoped for after his rookie season. By the way, his nickname discussion has been settled for once and for all: Spoiler You've clearly not been watching the team with the biggest surge in the west, Landry is putting up best sixth man numbers, again.
Has had stints in Sacramento, New Orleans and currently is in Golden State. Rebounding like his last year with the Rockets has fallen to about 5-7 a game but he is still usually averaging 15 points off the bench. This season with the Warriors seems to be turning up to be his best one since he the season he was traded to the Kings. A lot of people saw Patterson's first year and thought he'd develop into a Landry type but smarter and with a jumper. This season where he no longer is coming off the bench, fans are seeing that despite the size, he seems more likely to be a finesse big then the workhorse that people want him to be like Hayes, early Scola or Landry.
Yeah he's only been the sole reason the Warriors are competitive now... PPat is great, still only his 3rd season! And his second season injury free! Give him some time.
