Well, let's get some democratic leadership in there because we have had republican leadership for the last 8 years, and frankly they stunk. DD
I second this, and the guys backing TJ for this abomination of a thread. I never thought you would go this far to try and make a "Dick Cheese" point.......
Anyone even slightly hinting at racism from me in this thread does not know a thing about me. So sorry that your racist upbringings and surroundings have you seeing things that aren't even implied. My best post on the topic. To state that a campaign may make decisions based on the general public's perception does not mean it is my perception. I also would not put it past any politician to use, or not use, family members in public based on perception. Many phone polls are conducted asking vague, baited questions for exactly these purposes. It is not an unfair estimation on my part. As to my personal opinion of Michelle Obama, I think it is unfortunate that she is an object of scrutiny... and I do not like her husband's political views by and large to be the views I would agree with. I can see some of his points... almost... but he remains a very vague and talkative fellow to this day. I do not think she is running for an office, but I do know, as do all of you who act otherwise, that spouses of candidates are part of the greater picture, fairly or unfairly so. I don't know her at all. I rely on the media's portrayal, her own words, and what I perceive myself from others' opinions. Many others, I gather, are scared of her and her husband for reasons they need not be. But my points were simply that image consultants are used to a great extent in today's political game. I would not be surprised if the advisors for Team Obama suggested she not be in attendance on 9/11, and even instructed her to claim the school night for the kids as the reason. Big whoop. It happens. The hole in the reasoning is that she had traveled the same week to campaign in other places. My tone may have been misunderstood by some of you. But I still must point out that it is curious that even with the further distances of travel involved, a flight from her home city to NYC could have been taken after the kids were off to school, and a return flight before, or shortly after they were out of school. People take similar business flights every day. That leads me then, again, to the advisory team making the call. Which.... listen close.... is a moot point to me anyway.... hence my extremely ridiculous tone..... because any parent (at least one of two when possible) should be home, or near home, while the kids are in school. My official stance on Michelle Obama is that she is a woman with her priorities in order... a good mother, wife... and not a bad speaker.
