If "The Woods is a metaphor for The Low Post on an NBA court, was Donatas Motiejunas directing his comment to Patrick Patterson when he said, "If you are afraid of wolves don't go in the woods!"?
I'm not a huge McHale fan, but I did like how he had Parsons in the starting lineup early last season. McHale didn't care that Budinger had experience, or that Morris was a first round pick. He went with a rookie that he thought was the best player. This tells me that Patterson better play very well in training camp and the preseason or he will be watching rookies taking his minutes.
new offensive system+ he started the season hurt + season too fast to work yourself back in shape = bad year for most players

Shall I be more specific? Does anyone know if he's been working with CD at all? Or McHale? I don't know - he's been in organized bball for how long and hasn't seemed to develop any post skills. It might be nice to hear that he's doing something different than his usual routine. Also appreciated the sarcasm, a$$.
I never thought he had much of a upside. I thought he could be as good as milsap, but that ain't happening. Then I thought brandon bass, but that might be a stretch because he's not as explosive as bass. So he's haslem. Not bad, solid bench/situational starter.
he has the potential to become a future 2nd round pick, which we are gona use to draft our version of Manu Ginobili. Bye PP
Very nice dunk. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/NUU_n9c_ckM?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The "what have you done for me" attitude on Clutchfans can be ridiculous. People forget his rookie year when he had two healthy ankles.
Everything about Patrick Patterson just screams out average to me ... I don't think he possesses much upside.
The thing is that other than defense (which is an unknown at this point) D-Mo does everything better than Pat, especially in the low post.
Gone by the deadline IMO. His ceiling seems like decent role player on a veteran team. That's fine but not what's needed.
the first few stretches of his rookie year his jumper was LEGIT. not sure what happened after that. if he can hit the mid-range consistently his whole offensive game will open up. i hope he's shooting 1000 jumpers a day inside the 3 pt line. on defense i think patterson either isn't long enough or quick enough. when he contested shots, they seemed to always go in. this is his year to shine. hope hes been working on his game.
14&7 would be a miracle for PPat. Unless he shows massive improvement I think he will struggle to get more than 20 mpg.
I am a fan of Pat's game, and I hope that some of the size we brought in this offseason will help cover up his deficiencies as a rebounder. he had strung a few good/great games together right before he took that nasty fall on his neck/back...after that his offense got out of sorts, and it was a forgettable end to the season. I think it's easy to forget just how good he looked his rookie season. the guy flat out knows how to play ball, I expect big things if he is given starters minutes.
Having played in the SEC at UK, Patrick has an excellent pedigree. I hope that the common excuse of "he was playing hurt," or "he wasn't fully healed," is accurate. However, I have my doubts. He definitely belongs in the NBA, but it might not be with the Rockets as we're stacked with talent at his primary position. We'll see soon enough.
This is a make, or break year for PPat. I believe he stayed in Houston for most of the offseason to work on his game, if his game is similar to last year, he will not survive here. He needs to work more on his offensive game, if he wants to go somewhere because with Asik and Montejunas, he will not have to rebound much, but it is helpful if he can snag more than a few.
