Wasn't he just taken out of a cast? He will be pretty stiff, he will have muscle atrophy, and his ligamentous repair will be vulnerable. Not sure exactly what he tore and what type of repair/reconstruction he had... But soft tissue procedures like these usually entails a lengthy recovery process. Doubt he makes it back this season... Even with how much professional athletes are pushing their recovery. If he had broken a metacarpal or something, then I could see him being back already... Not whatever he had, especially if it's like a scapholunate repair or something along those lines. Too bad, could certainly use him and d-mo
If we can get bev on curry, ariza on klay, brewer on draymond or barnes. Howard om bogut harden can defend any pf in game like barnes or lee
Still a big risk for a guy that hasn't made much in his career. This could very well be his one and only chance to cash in.
Nothing sounds better during a contract negotiation than "my team went deep into the playoffs without me".
Something tells me his pitch will be that his team won 56 games and the toughest division in the NBA with him as their starting PG(for most of the year anyway). It sounds like Bev will be available in the Finals if the Rockets get that far, but not for the WCF. Of course, if they get to the Finals, would McHale and crew dare screw around with the chemistry by bringing Bev back?
and nothing worse than " I can't contribute for months of next season because I hurt my hand again seriously..but please give me a good contract because I haven't made much in my carreer".
pretty interesting article on the rise and impact of patrick beverley http://www.draftexpress.com/article...ks-The-Unbearable-Lightness-of-Beverley-4995/
It was a killer for Dwight and the Magic when Nelson came back from injury in the Finals back whenever. He moved back into his starting position. It was huge because they did have momentum, and Nelson back was not a move of desperation but rather to regain regular season continuity. That is not what we want. We need playoff continuity. If we need to adjust to Bev coming back, then we do it as an adjustment, not a return to the seasonal status quo. Terry,Harden,Ariza,Smith,Howard will start the series. Who finishes at the end of the game is all up to chemistry and who's hot, as McHale has shown. McHale has a good pulse on this team. I think that suiting up Beverly will be enough to light a fire under our Rockets. Terry and Prigioni have played on the big stages before. Bev has not. Yes he has youth and motor over T & P, but this is the WCF. The ball slows down. Bev needs to get in practice a few days before we think about suiting him up. This isn't the same group he's playing with. Too bad. Playoff Bev was great last year, but he also plays a little too close to the line and makes dumb reach-in moves. Terry/Prig have wisdom over Curry. They also have Playoff Dwight back there to cover for them. I want Bev back as much as the next guy, but he may not be ready to play this season unless this season goes into the Finals for the Rockets. We also have Nick Johnson. So we have that going for us.
As much as I love Bev, I really don't want the rotation changing. Terry and Prigs have earned the right to play in this series. We have to assume that Bev won't be 100% and if he does come back to play, should have his minutes very very limited.
Bev is best in limited minutes, that's when he can really **** people up with his energy, and I'm sure the old men wouldn't mind getting some more rest.
If Bev can play at all then giving him 5-10 minutes to go balls to the wall on defense could be beneficial. Its not enough minutes to really screw up chemistry or rotations.
Is he even with the team? They posted pics of the guys arriving in Oakland yesterday and everybody (including DMo) was pictured except for Bev.
Not sure, but Morey did an interview with Jay Mohr yesterday and explicitly said he was out for game 1, but wouldn't commit to the same answer for the rest of the series.
Translation: If the Rockets steal Game 1, Bev will be out for Game 2(like Chris Paul for the Clippers in the last series). If they lose(and especially if Curry goes off), maybe Bev will be available after all.
Yeah, I heard it... when they asked about the rest of the series, he gave that weird "Uhhhhhhhh.... we're told no." Just seems a little weird that DMo would be traveling but not Bev, but maybe he was in the bathroom or something lol.
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/source...hope-of-playing-in-west-finals-190939745.html After trying a second time on the eve of Game 1, Houston Rockets guard Patrick Beverley couldn’t find the strength and mobility in his left wrist to believe there exists a chance that he can return in the Western Conference finals, league sources told Yahoo Sports. “It’s a no-go for the series,” a league source told Yahoo Sports on Tuesday. “He’s done trying.” Beverley worked out twice Monday in the Bay Area, but a second trip to the gym Monday night convinced him to abandon hope for this series, which begins Tuesday night. Houston Rockets coach Kevin McHale has been adamant that Beverley won’t return against the Golden State Warriors, but his guard’s determination kept Beverley searching for a way until late Monday night, sources said. Beverley still has a pin in his hand from surgery to repair a torn ligament, and the reaction times necessary to catch, pass and dribble are nowhere near the level needed for him to return in the near future, sources said. Beverley had surgery March 31, and the plan has been for him to take four months for a full recovery. Beverley averaged 10.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 56 games for Houston this season. Beverley will be one of the top restricted free agents on the market this summer.
it isnt a good idea for now, not for bev and not for the team either imo. maybe give it a couple more weeks and wait until the final?
LOl this is wrong. For starters Bev / Terry / Prig >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Clarkson / Ronnie Price / Jerry Lin
