You don't have to be on the playoff roster to get a ring. I'm pretty sure Tim Breaux wasn't on the Rockets playoff roster in '95 but he got a ring.
..that's depressing but I have to say Jet is surprisingly a smarter defender and probably better for this playoff run. Could use his tenacity off the bench to hound some guys in a goon role but I guess it is what it is.
Probably. Unless he gets lowballed by the rest of the league this offseason in which case I could see the Rockets bringing him back as a backup. But he cannot be the starter next season if they're serious about winning titles. And yes, I mean that even if they do win it all this season.
Wasn't this what happened to Jameer Nelson when the Magic made it to the finals with Skip? He got plugged in since he had returned from injury. I believed it to be a mistake to plug someone in if someone who he was replacing was running the show pretty good. I don't know that Terry or Prigi Pab are running the show like Skip was for the Magic, but they've been holding their own.
I don't think so. Serious surgery in the spine and put him into the physical play of playoffs to get banged up? A misstep can be career ending.
with the grandpas stepping up, 10-15mpg from bev is good enough. i remember seeing stuff about him playing if rockets are still in the playoffs late may.
Talk about counting your chickens before they hatch. There's still a game 7 tomorrow - thanks for the jinx.
As mentioned many times before, the "playoff roster" no longer exists. It was done away with in the last CBA.
Doesn't matter what you value, you don't matter - he does. It is his career, not yours or mine. Neither of us matter. DD
I really want to see what will happen here if we lose the game tmr. Just hope the players on the team dont think things like this right now. SMFH
Hah, I predicted the same in another thread (game thread?). I don't think McHale's response should be taken as the final word when Beverley came out 2 weeks earlier and said he'd play regardless of how much it hurt. His injury is not to his shooting hand and won't affect much of his game. Also, I think what many McHale haters fail to recognize is that a coach has no incentive to tell the public what the team's actual strategy is. Popovich is the king of avoiding questions that would reveal anything about a game plan. McHale can easily say that things have changed since his earlier statement. I'd much rather have a player activated within a series where a team has not prepared for him than have the coach give away our strategy up front. Finally--I think McHale expressing hope that Beverley will return could have affected the play of Terry or Prig. You don't want the current PGs to assume that they're just biding time until Bev is back.
