    correction to above :

Clay Thomson is the second best defender other than iguodala, but he is still a very good defender.

Probably the same person voted for Robert Covington as the Rookie of The Year.

Congratulations to Pat Beverley who is probably the most intriguing story on the All Defense team.
Having come halfway around the world just to get back to the NBA and with only one full season in the league so far, Beverley found his path to success and dug in.

In addition to being an elite defender at his position, his heart, energy, and effort have made him a fan favorite and a crucial component on a team that too often lacked in those departments.

Add that by all accounts he is a great teammate and perhaps the teams biggest cheerleader and it's easy to see why Rockets fans root so loudly for this guy.

    That's Great News x 2!

Rocket fans know that Howard should also be listed up there this season and Asik last year however it would not be unrealistic to see all 3 of them recognized next year

    This is fantastic news!

Most impressive is that Bev got the 2nd most 1st team votes out of all the 2nd team winners (behind only Lebron!)

Harden got two votes: himself and his mother.

Excellent post defense, and decent perimeter defender when engaged.

They must have happened to catch one of the few games where he looked engaged on the defense end.

Wasn't one of them a GSW media person? I remember him playing great "D" that game.

    Awesome.

However, Beverley still has the issue of fouling a bit much. Hopefully this at least partially solves this, given that refs can be very subjective when calling such fouls(CP3's "defense" against Curry was clear example of reputation non-calls). But Beverley also need to be more judicious in when and where he can foul players without having the being fouls.

yeeesh.... is the all defense team always been voted by the media? If yes, I'm really doubtful about the credibility of all prior versions...

Or there was a "thank you" vote from someone in JJ Redick's family.

Didn't Bev miss a third of the season as well? (although CP3 missed a quarter of it)

    My comments:

#1 - I realize he didn't "try" as hard, and its tiring voting for the same player year after year, but Lebron not on the first team basically every year is crazy. The guy can defend, at an above average level, 4 positions, possible all 5 if you consider how bad most centers are offensively, and is as good a rotation defender as there is. He can shut down PGs to SFs in a dominant way defensively. There's basically no one else who can do this. The last player that was that versatile defensively was a prime KG, who had the lateral quickness to stay with guards enough for his length to bother them, and was of course a great post defender.

#2 - I love PBev's game and attitude... but I find his defense overrated. I am NOT NOT NOT a fan of placing that super aggressive man defense on a pedestal over smart, 100% effort, team defense. He had a lot of great man on man defense... but such aggressiveness also caused a lot of breakdowns when he got beat and the Rockets poor team defensive concepts broke down immediately. While it's not his job, I'd appreciate PBev more as a defender if he took a leadership role in setting up and demanding great team defense behind him... even if it means lower steal numbers or not as "obvious" man defense.

Danny Green has to be the most under rated perimeter defender
