i asked earlier, but can cuban realistically offer bev a bigger/sizable contract while monta ellis is a free agent?

one would think monta would be heavily paid this offseason.

He'll probably just try to drive the price up and make it harder to sign Bev. Cuban is a ho for this

All together now: championship teams are the ones that find the Beverley's not the ones that give them ridiculous contracts...

Yes. If Cuban is agreeable to losing Rondo, then yes. He's got plenty of cap flexibility. Tyson is a FA but he's not going to get anywhere close to max dollars. Probably 2/20 or something like that for him. So Cuban has plenty of cap to "overpay" Bev so we don't match.

The more likely scenario here though is getting Morey to agree to S&T Bev. Cuban may be willing to pay Bev more than we will but not enough to assure we won't match. And we could offer Bev an artificially high salary for one season with a team option on year 2 that could give Bev pause on signing a longer term offer sheet from Dallas.

I haven't looked at Dallas cap situation but Dallas will have Monta's bird rights .... they can go over the cap and back up the Brinks truck for him while spending their cap space or cap exceptions elsewhere.

The issue for the Rockets is that they likely start the offseason operating over the cap so replacing PatBev , should he end up signing elsewhere is problematic.

They have no cap space & have Josh Smith & KJ McDaniels as free agents who have no bird or early bird rights meaning they would need to use the MLE to keep them or lose them .... and that same MLE , a draft pick or a vet min deal are the only avenues the Rockets would have to fill the void in the event that Bev is gone..
Who do you sign for the vet min at the point guard spot that isn't dead weight ?
Can you really expect a mid 1's round rookie to contribute starter minutes on a contender ?!
Do you let Smith & Bev walk and fill the point spot with MLE money ? Who's an upgrade at that price ?

I suspect the Rockets offer Beverley a real nice contract tho not in Parsons territory ....

Elhassan is a professional troll who eventually developed some contacts in the league just by being a media member for some time. He's not there to give you news, just to aggravate and give shallow "analysis." I wouldn't put much stock into this.

Rockets are not going to "overpay" by their standards. So if Dallas throws a lot of $$ at Beverley, he is as good as gone.

He is a restricted free agent. There really isn't much out there in terms of starting caliber pg's in free agency. I really do think it's time to go give Sergio a legit offer with a shot at starting.

Cuban is seriously the worst GM in basketball. All his star players are going to be asking for big parsons money and no way he can afford that. Mavericks won't be in the playoff picture next season.

Lol Beverly is one of the worst starting PGs in the league and he's Dallas top FA target? Someone forward this to Rondo please.

Agreed. Nothing to see here. It was as random as trade speculation on The Starters. Not real news.
