i disagree. the goal is still to win the next game. you don't give yourself a lesser chance to win a game (and frankly, starting brooks gives you a lesser chance to win) just to prepare for games 10-14 days from now.

Dagnamit, I hope Beverley isn't in too much pain. Here's to a speedy recovery.

Hopefully Beverley recovers quickly, but at the start of the season, better to make a complete recovery than to come back too soon and have it linger all year.

Brooks is the one who will really have to step up. He didn't play very well last game, but generally looked good during the preseason.

Worst realistic case for Lin is to match last seasons production, and there is certainly the possibility that he plays better than last year. I support Beverley as the starter because I think being the primary ball handler off the bench plays to Lin's strengths, more than playing the spot up shooter role that is more prevalent for the starter. I don't think Lin will have any problems starting though.

    Un-freaking-believable.

I know yall like Brooks for nostalgia reasons and what not but he is such a depressing downgrade from Patrick. You go from a fantastic defender to a non-existent one. [IMG]

And this "10" day timeline sounds like BS to me, do partial tears really heal that quick? Am I just being paranoid? [IMG]

And what about Harden, back spasms are no joke, if his time is limited we might even see Canaan get significant minutes, oh lord. [IMG]

Let me just go pop another Zoloft.

He's not going to be out that long. Unless Lin goes absolutely bananas or there is some philosophical change at the PF position, I think they will turn back to Beverley at the starting spot shortly after he returns.

Poor reading comprehension on my part for not realizing you were quoting Lin. Hopefully those injuries are not serious but then again, you can't be too sure with the inundation of information being thrown out there, good and bad. Is Asik fully recovered now?

Is coach Mchale still going to alternate starting PG position or that was just a pre-season thing?

I thought losing your job to injury was part of the Rocket's way at PG?

Lin needs to hit his open looks. No more air balls please.

Hopefully, he keeps it up. He's not going to get 20+ shots a game like he did in New York to score. On this team, it's all about scoring efficiency unless you're Harden. You better make the most of your 7-10 shot attempts.

But so far, I'm not sold until I see a larger sample size. Everytime he puts up a 3, I hold my breath.

Are you heated over something I don't understand. The current situation is Beverley's hurt, not unlike Lin's situation last season during the playoffs. These things happen and when they do, folks will speculate as they did with Lin, that the injury was accelerated due to his attack mentality or in Beverley's case, his aggressive defense.

Prior to joining the Knicks and before learning that Lin would not be staying with NY, Jason Kidd made an observation about Lin's game saying he needs to learn how to play at different speeds or risk injury. This was something he had planned on teaching him.

Now that Beverley has earned significant playing time, he could learn to adjust his playing speed during games to conserve some energy and minimize the risk of injury from exhaustion.

Didn't Steve Blake have the same thing last season?
    http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2012/12/3/3723532/steve-blake-injury-lakers-pg-to-miss-6-8-weeks
Steve Blake will miss the next 6-8 weeks due to a torn abdominal muscle.

Yea you are right. I hope he could improve his shot. That being said, Im not too sold on Bev's game as well since his sample size is even smaller.

gahh this is a set back, a minor one but a set back nonetheless. Hopefully Bev gets sorted out asap and we can get him back out there.
