Beverly has been injured a lot this season. I hope he does not become an injury prone player because his body is unable to put up with how much he pushes it.

While I think this injury does not kill our playoff chances it certainly puts up another barrier in terms of playoff success.

However i believe these weeks sans beverly will define Jeremy Lin's time as a Houston Rocket. It will either help him build his case that he can be a solid starter in this league or add to the notion that Jeremy is an overpaid sixth man who struggles with consistency.

Lin needs to play like his ass is on fire, not only for his sake but for the sake of our team. He needs to get chippy, play with intensity, and set the game's tone from the opening tipoff. If he plays passive it will not only hurt the team but It will force McHale's hand in palying an unproven Cannan.

Now don't get me wrong I like Cannan but it is scary throwing a Rookie PG into the mix when we are so close to locking up homecourt and poised to make a playoff push. I do hope that Cannan plays well and shows some poise.

    Get well soon Pat!

Based on most of these replies, you would think it was Harden who got injured.

Team will definitely miss the intensity and defense, but this in no way compares to a Mac or Yao injury. We are talking about a guy who wouldn't even start on the majority of other NBA teams.

Lin brought his college team to a championship. Must have been a bit of pressure in the champ. game. Don't you think.

I stated at the time we got rid of Brooks, this could come back to haunt us if either Bevs or Lin were to go down. Nothing against Canaan, but he's just too raw for a serious playoff run.

The one thing that changes now is that Lin, for the first time since joining this team, should have no fear of being benched or losing minutes.

So Lin finally has an opportunity to play to his real strengths, which have been under wraps on this club. But it would really be disappointing if Lin's creation off the midrange game and freedom to wreak havoc on defense remain under wraps. For Lin has no excuses, like before.

I just wish it didn't take a possible season-ending injury to a valuable teammate for this opportunity to arise. Pat Beverley is a player who is capable of helping his team win a title. And his absence will be devastating, even if Lin finally turns it around.

Worse, the Rockets lose their small ball line-up of Lin-Beverley-Harden-Parsons-Dwight. This is arguably their best line-up. Alotta teams simply can't handle this.

I think the loss of the small ball lineup is perhaps the most serious issue. That's really their "fastball" lineup and their "curveball" lineup.

Lin's supposed defensive "mediocrity" and Beveley's supposed offensive "averageness" disappear when they're on the court together. They supply the other's supposed deficiency on a matchup basis, yet retain their respective strengths on the other end of the court.

Lin also doesn't go into wussy mode as much when Bev's on the court...

Too bad losing Bev when we are close on playoff time. It is not just losing a defensive presence to slow down speedy guards in the playoff, it is also about team chemistry. Lin is capable to step in and step up. He has been there last year. But he is so used to the backup role now and his starter teammates will have to adjust to his style of play with all the starters this late in the season. Hope Bev can come back for the playoff with rehab. The last thing we need is losing the team chemistry which has led to double wins than losses this season. Hope Bev can get a better 2nd opinion on the injury.

Tjone can run, drive and shoot 3.
I think he is fine to take place in the small lineup.

No argument against TJones, but the 3 guard lineup really kicks butt.

Not having Brooks around is going to force McHale to play Lin serious minutes, lol.

This should be interesting. Mchale clearly doesn't trust Lin, and when you lack trust, thus comes restrictions.

Lin is inconsistent, but so are other players on this team, sometimes...*cough* Parsons.
Difference is, others are given the chance to play through.
If Lin doesn't perform now though, no one should complain about him being a product of bad coaching.
I hope IC is ready...that would be my biggest concern.

This. Consider that Hamilton has been playing very inconsistent offense, the Brooks trade is going to bite us. Lin better not get injured like last year, else we are down to a rookie pg with hardly any playing time nor experience. If that is the case, Harden will have to be the starting pg.
