I always hate roster moves which could possibly mean the end of a short NBA career, and this team is full of short careers. On the other hand, having just watched the video, I find myself rooting for PB to succeed. Too bad there's only so many roster spots.
Ive always wondered why the nba doesnt allow for a IR or PUP list to keep players whipe also bringing in others such as football... i could understand teams may try takin advantage of such thinks and stockpiling but if you set a limit at say 2-3, than whats the harm?
Lakers, Mavs, Jazz, Orlando, Kings, NO? Just a thought -- doubt that many teams are looking for a point guard. League is stacked with pg talent.
You guys really think Lin will be traded? The All Stars is not that far away. He is currently third in the backcourt rankings. Why would Les and Daryl let him go? Use your head for once people.
"Use your head"? What a foreign concept... Kidding aside, I agree that Lin isn't going anywhere. Not that I don't welcome Beverley, it's just a tad sad to see his arrival at the expense of someone leaving. I actually like all the guys we currently have (except for White... jury's still out on him).
Roster spot at premium There is no MUP, but isn't this discrimination against people who are unable to perform due to anxiety disorder? I think more than the money, Royce White is tying up a roster spot, which DM is trying to use to corner the market on PG's. DM is trying to make up for last year when he gave again Lin, and Dragic. PG's are pretty easy to develop and 6'0" guy with skills are out there, they just need a roster spot to be seen. I see this as also a way to pressure Royce White. He needs a little anxiety about his roster spot that's not even in practice.
Hmm I dunno... It'd be a PR nightmare if White was waived to open up spot for Beverley. After all, the team isn't exactly short on PGs (Lin, Douglas, Machado).
It's been a PR nightmare so far anyway with RW. But I don't think RW is going anywhere. I think its more likely Machado get waived. Also, Douglas could be moved. His value is up, he has experience, contract is pretty decent and would likely be added to any deal we make. Signing PB is a strange move at this point though but Morey is a shrewd guy.
That makes the most sense to me. However, they started to take the action to get guy *before* Lin showed that he can play like himself in the Spurs game, and subsequently he was allowed to play the role he was oiginally signed for. Trades can often be good for players. Kmart is very happy.
I've seen every single game Patrick Beverley played in college at Arkansas. He can defend. At least he did here. He's a classic combo guard, though. He does play a lot like Douglas, and I wouldn't automatically assume he doesn't defend as well based on some internet footage. He left Arkansas before his junior year because he was declared ineligible for cheating. He won SEC Freshman of the Year in 2007 and was a first team freshmen All-American and 2nd team All-SEC. He did not play as well under John Pelphrey as a sophomore (Stan Heath was his coach as a freshman). Surely Machado is being waived. It does not make sense for let an expiring guaranteed contract go. A trade could be imminent but it sounds like the Rockets just aren't that impressed with Machado, and I don't blame them. He's great at setting people up for baskets, but that's about it. Can't shoot, defend, or create his own offense. Beverley will contribute much more and is only 2 years older. He will destroy the D-League.
I suspect Rockets are working on a few deals to swap a player for a future draft pick. This news makes trading Machado difficult as teams may try to wait for him to be cut.

Has this happened before where a roster spot has been filled so soon before a spot has been opened? The suspense is killing me lol. Is it a trade or just a cut. Will all Rockets fans wake up with a brand new PF under the tree. lol Santa Morey please bring me either: Kevin Love DeMarcus Cousins Josh Smith David Lee Luc Richard Mbah a Moute Marcin Gortat LaMarcus Aldridge Paul Millsap
