personally, i think politicians should at the least hold themselves to the standards that they advocate, especially when it comes to "morality" issues.

thats all fine and good, but perhaps these people should not be going around telling others how to live their lives?

 

There is absolutely a correlation when the person deliberately makes it a part of their political platform. When one trumpets"family values" uses that notion as an excuse to criticize someone else's private romantic lives, they are automatically relating tying their private lives to this particular activity. If they don't want their anti-family values activities exposed, they shouldn't talk about the importance of family values to the public.

 

Except you did no such thing. All you told us that is that people cheat because it's more convenient than getting a divorce. That doesn't show anything about why that attitude wouldn't affect other parts of their life.

 

Except would those people even have been elected if their constituents knew they personally didn't live up to those values?

 

Apparently, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting an abomination (especially in Proverbs) - though I actually didn't find adultery. Some things that are abominations:

* lying tongue (or lips)
* hands that shed innocent blood
* a heart that devises wicked plans
* feet that run to evil
* a false witness
* one who sows discord among brothers
* a man who lies with a man as a woman
* cross-dressing
* sacrifices, thoughts, prayers, and ways of the wicked
* crooked hearts
* unequal weights or measures, or a false scale
* arrogance
* scoffers
* devious people
* vain offerings
* Taking back your wife you've sent away after she has been defiled by another man
* An ox or a sheep given as a sacrifice that has a blemish or any defect
* Worshiping other gods or idols

I was wondering about this. The Marines have a commercial that they run to trouble. Presuming that such trouble is evil such as a terrorist attack, so does that mean that Marines and first responders are abominations?

I was only listing the things actually called "abominations" (at least in whatever translation I was using). If you make a list of all the things listed as sins, or that deserve punishment, or for which one would be denied entry into the kingdom of god, it'd be a lot lot longer.
