If this lawmaker starts throwing out allegations without proof, the congressmen & congresswomen will bury her with slander suits as many of them are also lawyers.

Also since when did any elected official believe they should be any sort of morality police or snitch? I'm not sure how these proposed actions are serving the will of the people who elected her.

    I hope she does.

There is no excuse for anyone to be opposed to gay-marriage because of they believe marriage is the family unit and requires fidelity and such if they are going to go out and cheat on their spouse anyways.

What's more concerning is the statement which seems to say that gay people aren't faithful and would not be monogamous.

I think it's okay for people to be opposed to gay-marriage, but those statements go too far.

Personally, I would like to see no marriage, just a simple union certificate that gives any 2 people the rights one would expect in a marriage, eg parental custody rights, power of attorney, guardianship, etc. Then, the churches can "marry."

Really and truly, who gives a crap if the government recognizes gay marriage. If gay people want to be just a miserable as heterosexual couples, we should welcome them to hell. ;)

I hope she does out them. It would at least keep me entertained until House of Cards returns Feb 27.

Yep. Politicians are elected to serve the will of the people and not the will of themselves or their own personal agenda. If the people in their district/area want them to be the morality police then fine. I believe (more like hope) though that most people elect officials with the intention that they will make laws and decisions that will better the lives of the people who elected them.

I could care less which congressperson is sticking it in another congressperson behind their partner's backs.

I think the idea is to expose the irony in those folks pushing their ****ty moral agenda while they cheat on their wives. I applaud her. Hope she has some proof so she can avoid all of the ****ty lawsuits.

Exactly. All she's saying it don't be a hypocrite. Don't talk the talk if you don't walk the walk yourself.

I'm feeling fairly certain she won't name names. It was a rhetorical device to counter a 'family values' objection to gay marriage. To actually accuse people would not only create legal liabilities for her, she'd burn every professional bridge she has.

I'm not a big fan of charges of "hypocrisy" in pursuit of ideological goals. A politician is an advocate for his constituents' values and interests, not an exemplar thereof.

“One thing I’m pretty consistent on is I do not like hypocrites,” she later told The Huffington Post. “If you can explain your position and you hold yourself to the same standard you want to hold me to, then fine. But you cannot go out there and smear my community by condemning us and somehow making us feel less than, and expect me to be quiet.”

    I like this lady!

Would this be any different than exposing someone who opposed a water treatment plant when they are on the board of a chemical company that's on the banks of the Chattahoochee River?

Isn't adultery an abomination, too? At least according to the Bible.

Gay marriage isn't discussed in the bible, but sodomy and homosexuality are. Those two latter acts are now legal, as is adultery.
