I agree with DD on this. Everyone needs to relax. It could be January before everyone here is having wet dreams about the Rockets again, but they will get there. Sadly, all this is going to fall on deaf ears. People will continue to b**** and moan until they see results... Honestly, I can't REALLY blame them after all the years of crushed hopes. Maybe it would be best for people like me to just avoid this board in the mean time.
And I think that's the truth. It's not that we're under performing these first 7 games or so. It's that we've been under performing for YEARS with Yao and McGrady. Hell, does anyone remember how excited they were when we added McGrady to the team? I could barely sit in my damn chair I was so excited to have a complementary star next to Yao. Now almost 5 years later, we have a few first round exits and a gimpy pair of superstars to show for it. 5 years. That's not an eternity but it is a time frame that should yield RESULTS and first round exits with McGrady boo hoo crying and saying "it's on me" aren't cutting it so far. McGrady having injuries every season is lame. Yao being dead tired for every season because of crazy offseasons that no American player has to endure is getting old. It's all frustrating. Yet, we're so close and I think the fans sense that. All of the years spent in frustration could culminate in a POSSIBLE championship this year. That's a big part of why I'm so frustrated with the team , 7 games or not, and that's why a majority of fans here are so frustrated. It's not enough to say , "relax, we'll still make the playoffs". No. That is settling for mediocrity. A team of Artest, McGrady, and Yao does not simply stop when they make the playoffs and say "well, that was sure nice. time to bow out". No. We're not trying to make the playoffs this year, we're trying to win the whole damn thing and we should have a very good chance of that IF we start playing like a championship team. Playoffs this year alone would be a failure and it would be an enormous failure. We have to make some progress this year or else we start the process over because if Artest, McGrady, and Yao can't get it done we truly do need to just nuke the starting lineup and start fresh into another era with different players. That's not to say in January, we won't all be singing a different tune. I just hope we are indeed singing that tune in January.
weren't you the one going bonzi on yao and t-mac last night in the chat room? now you're preaching patience? good grief!
It could have been a hater of DaDakota. I remember that as well. But then again, I think I just read a post where he wrote that it would be in our best interest to trade Artest... How long do we have to be patient with the Rockets? The amount of time we have to be patient with Francis and his rehab? If that is so... then we have the rights to bash the Rockets.
Just because I am critical of them and their effort in the game does not mean I can not be realistic about expectations. There is a difference. DD
Send Yao and Tmac to the NBDL. Start Landry at PF and Scola at C!!!! Seriously, things will work out. Yao will return to form and Tmac will....well, Yao will return to form. I am more worried that this team still looks more JVG than Adelman on offense. I've seen a few posts about this. I feel a new thread coming...
When Dada is asking for patience, you know it's getting out of control. No matter what the issue is, the effort is just not consistent. I don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but it's certainly not time to hit the panic button.
75 more games to go. I'm not worried in the least, would still like to see Morey add a big (6'10+) or two. A weak side shotblocker patrolling the paint would be phenomanal. I still think this is one of the more talented teams the rockets have put together in a long time and if healthy with time I expect them to run rough shot on the rest of the league. I wouldn't judge these rockets until they get 40+ games under their belt.
Hmmmm....I'll just assume you had a change of heart there In anycase, the message is right - this team will take time. Yao-era Rockets are not fast starters - never have been. And there are many obstacles to overcome. But it's a long season, and there's little reason to pass judgement or hit the panic button, or even the worry button.
Guys remember last season at this time when we lost to Philly by like 40 points and we all thought the season was over (myself included). Relax, this team has better people on it than last year, we aren't going to be worse. Just takes time to get healthy and get chemistry.
I just e-mailed the same thing to my cousin... I hope that Portland (after the buzzer shot) doesn't have a San Antonio-type effect on the Rockets (1993).
Dakota, you made a couple of jabs at Rockets the week before and then bump your own pro-rockets thread now that they had a good road trip. Sneaky sneaky...
You have to be able to discern the difference in me being critical of individual players, and my thinking about the long term goals of the season. There is a difference, maybe I should be more clear.....just because you criticize someone for poor perfomance, or drama creation, does not mean you don't believe the team is in great shape. DD
great idea, lets trade Yao to thunders for the next 2 first rounder and Durant Trade Tmac Clippers for some expiring contract +3 first rounder Trade Artest to any bad team for expiring +2 first rounder and we are ready to go
I realize this was from several weeks ago and was shamelessly bumped by DD thus making my post irrelevant and outdated...but still. This, in the "cool internetz lingo" would be what we call complete and total ownage.
