It’ll change in a week. It feels like Houston, historically, has never really been a season debut team.

And this performance was so bad theirs a lot the team can build in. Once they start making progress the vibes will change.

somebody need to start positive vibes thread

    THAT'S NOT HOW THIS WORKS!

I don't mind the losing. I knew we were going to be at the bottom of the West but it's the way the Rockets are losing....the starters are not competitive!

    They haven't been competitive
in any of the games this pre-season nor the regular season. The one game they won, the end of the bench guys won on a heroic comeback.

    To build good habits
, you have to at least be competitive; by not turning the ball over, playing defense, hitting open shots.

Sure the Rockets are young BUT they have been playing basketball since elementary school. The game don't change! And that's my point. Sure the players are bigger but these guys have been playing basketball against bigger players since middle school.

    To me it's coaching,
to date I still don't know what Silas is doing. CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME? It looks like I mad house out there.

At the time, I thought giving McCray & Peterson was to much for Thorpe, so I am wrong a lot.

Preach. Truthfully a rebuild job ain’t for the faint of heart. You’re going to have to sit through some Rodrick Rhodes, Keith Bogans, Dan Langhis, etc ever so often before you can get to something like the Harden era. But we should count our blessings that our GM isn’t an incompetent fool. That’s why I’m hopeful things will turn around. If we had a Billy King level GM…yea might have to delete my account and come back as @basketballholicsnewsletter

The "Rome wasn't built in a day" metaphor only works if you think we're building Rome.

In the words of Rockets Legend™ Darnell Maurie, “People should buckle in. This is going to go for a long time. You guys think I’m kidding. I’m not. This could be four years. This could be four years. This is not a day-to-day thing.”

Just institute a "no volcanoes" policy and we'll be good.

But rome was built with boulders, not pebbles. We need to have some big pieces. We need to have a true unquestionable center piece to build around like when we had Dream or Harden.

There is one such piece at this time, even though it will take a huge amount to get him. The reigning MVP. N Jokic.

We also need to realize that a Sonics/Thunder type of rebuild is the exception and not the rule. Most team rebuilds look more like the Sixers rebuild than the Thunder.

The Sixers drafted 5 high lottery potential stars. Only two of those are allstar caliber players and one of those is Ben freaking Simmons.

However the Sonics/Thunder hit the ball out of the park and drafted two top 75 of all time players, and one overrated superstar who is rumored to be top 75, but shouldn't really be.

None of those teams were what they became after one year. We are only 1 regular season game into the rebuild. The Thunder... even with 3 superstars drafted took 4 years for it to become obvious that they now are a competitive team. The Sixers about 5.

People here just need to realize that even if we drafted multiple Jalen Green's for the next 4 years, there's a high likelihood that at least 2 of the 4 Jalen Green's will be bad NBA players. It's a 4 to 5 year process. Not 1 game.

Yup. There's about a 41% chance of landing an All-Star level or better player within the first 5 picks of the draft, on average. We need to acquire as many top 5 picks as possible over the next couple of years.

This is also a good reason why the Rockets are adament about the 2023 free agency, and their cap space. I think Stone knows that there's a possibility that Green, and or the 2022 lottery pick haven't worked out yet, and they have to have options at getting a cornerstone that summer in free agency. If the chances of Green and the 2022 lottery pick were more like 75 to 80% that one would be a superstar, I think you'd see a different calculation by Stone to do something different with Wall and Gordon.

Its not about what they are now, it’s about what they will potentially be in the future. So many players have had slow starts to there career and picked it up years down the road. Guess it’s no point thinking about who we didn’t draft and watch Green develop. But that’s just me ;)

I will passively keep an eye on the other guys . It’s been a long time since we’ve even had a 19 year old on the team .

Green look OK . I’m more interested to see how he does each successive game .

I saw some high caliber speed . He needs to learn his control and continue to grow into an adult body .

We need John Wall to PLAY, we would have won the game against Boston and Dallas if Walls played. He does not have to start and he can come into the game when Gordon goes into the game. But i'm confuse what this organization is doing!!!! You can still get the young back court 31 to 35 minutes a game and play Wall and Gordon together. Wall can take Augustine minutes.
