He's not "slow" at all. He's an engineering student at UC Berkeley and I've met and talked to him before (I'm a student there too). It takes a lot to be an engineering student in one of the best engineering programs in the world...even if he is just a pathetic civil engineer! Sorry, I had to sneak that last one in for all the CS people
He is pathetic and he knows it, but he's rich b****! I wish there were more Asian actors that aren't fit in typecast roles, but there's no other choice than to give it more time.
MAKE IT STOP! It was not that funny. It was pathetic. Please stop acting like this moron is so freakin great because he wasn't scared to perform. Big freaking deal. Why is he going to be at this game? Hey promotions department...isn't it enough that the Rockets are in the playoffs?
Don't be making fun of this guy, he's trying hard and everyone is good for a little instant fame and money. Don't say Engineering student got it harder than CS student. I hope Hung realize that he has little talent in singing and he should stop making fun of himself and concentrate on school work.
Actually he is a civil engineering major from Berkeley, so he is far from being a r****d. But this disgrace mass is just make me feel sad...
The guy is obviously book smart and from the sounds and feel I get from him, he ain't too street smart because he doesn't seem to realise that people (most) are just making fun of him... If he knew how horrible he is, he wouldn't be taking singing lessons to "improve" his voice. He doesn't realise that no matter how much training he gets, he'll be nothing more than a below-average singer. I will say that most women I know that know of Hing, LOVE LOVE LOVE his attitude and think he is "cute"... not "cute" in a way that he is attrative, but "cute" as in a naive child. Stuart
Let the guy have his 15 (or plus) minutes of fame. He's smart enough to know that some people like him because he's genuine, some because they like to make fun of him, and generally because it's just funny to watch him sing. If I were him I'd milk it for all it's worth. It'll all be over with soon enough and noone will remember who he was. So who cares how many people make fun of him now? The money he's making will last a lot longer than your memories. You tell him to take the high road. Remember that groundskeeper who got Mark McGwire's 66th homerun ball? He took the high road and gave the ball to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Do you remember his name? I doubt it. But I'm guessing he remembers that $1 million (he likely would have made off the ball) everytime he's sweeping the grounds.
I think Asians need to not be so sensitive. People aint laughing at the guy cuz he's asian, they laughing with him because they liked his attitude. I don't think it woulda mattered if he was black or white or Asian. We as Asians just sometimes might feel uncomfortable and think the world is laughing at us because of the way our cultures is when we were growing up. BeetleJuice from Howard Stern show looks like WIliam Hung also and is a sort of novelty act, I bet African Americans dont think its racist when people laugh at him. Let things go man, gotta think progressively
bingo! thank you. that's what i've been saying all along. i'm proud of william hung... he has courage. also... if you listen to some of his more recent stuff, i mean the average joe could not do any better.
The guy is not an idiot. People like entertainers who are willing to be the objects of humor. Whether it's Chris Farley (the fat guy) or Danny Devito (the short guy), there's a place for self-depracating humor that the PC police need to just lay off of. So the guy has an accent and can't sing, that's why it's that much better when he turns himself into a momentary pop icon. So many people are so caught up in what the perception and motivation of any public story and feel a need to object to almost anything. And people need to quit trying to get Yao's back when it comes to these outrageous forms of "racism." They're cheapening the validity of that word every time they cry wolf. Yao's intelligent and well-spoken, and I feel that he's perfectly capable of saying no if he doesn't want to meet William Hung, just like he diplomatically responded to Shaq's foolish comments earlier. I for one am gonna enjoy William Hung's performance on Saturday, but not nearly as much as the Rockets win!
He is going to bring down our Franchise! Quick! some one get him!!! Don't let him sing! EDIT: "Sing" not...sing.
only in America can this happen. He wouldn't get any attention anywhere else in the world. You are not missing anything.
Isn't he the guy after the American Idol judge told him "you can't sing and you can't dance, what do you want me to say?" And he replied "I have already shown you my best" There was nothing left to say. People just like him. He is just one of those types of people. I for one am proud of people like him, criticize all you want. It's people like you that make people like him.
