Well said. Alpi is one of the easiest players to root for. Great player, humble, continues to improve and is good teammate. Why anyone who roots for Houston can't appreciate that is beyond me. Everyone should be rooting for him but unfortunately people can't appreciate certain things. I like Jalen too. He's definitely trying to get better.
He had several incidents but nothing that said he was toxic on and off the court IIRC. He was even asked to talk to new NBA players days before that battery case.
Can you elaborate on this? I don't think I've ever talked to anyone who thinks Pop is the worst coach in the NBA. Do you think he's always been overrated, or do you think he's just too old and the game has passed him by?
Old, doesn't care anymore, game has passed him by completely. He used to be great, but nobody stays great forever. At this point i would say he's the worst by a pretty significant margin. The whole idea of "lets play without a point guard" is asinine beyond belief, especially when you're entire purpose is to develop your rookie phenom center.
His goal isn't to develop his rookie center his goal is to build a foundation for a dynasty hence he is tanking. The Process works as shown by the Houston Rockets. You just need to not mess up your draft picks and also not get caught so you disguise tanking as ineptitude.
Several incidents including getting in fights with family, beating up his girlfriend, missing practice, leaving at halftime of a game, getting in a fight with Lucas, blatantly quitting on plays. I have to ask how is that not toxic? This is just with the Rockets the team that supposedly saved his life. That's before we discuss Cleveland, USC and high school. He's just a bad person in general. Why anyone would defend him is beyond me
It was a setup from the start. I truly believe it was the team of his choosing. Wherever he wanted to go, the NBA set it up for him to go there. I said it months before the draft.
Yeah his teammates really hate and can't stand KPJ You can see his coaches really hate him too esp Stephen Silas and John Lucas whom he had that incident with. I mean John Lucas gritting his teeth and rolling his eyes if you squint you will see his disdain even he is wearing a mask right. This also right after their fight so you know Lucas really hates KPJ right then. So toxic man you are right you know more about KPJ than the Rockets. I'm not defending him about his violence or that case with his GF, there's a reason he is no longer on the team. But you act like he was this evil dude from day 1 and was toxic to everyone on the team when that doesn't seem to be the case. All I know is if a dude is an ******* I won't be helping him get a triple doub or hug him when he hits the game winner.
Lucas tried to help him. Stone enabled him and he let everyone down like he always has. Every single team he's been on had to cut ties. That said, you have an affinity for him. That's fine. He's no longer a Rocket so he really doesn't deserve any more of either of our time. We'll agree to disagree and leave it there
A money fine should discipline him but I guess the losing culture should continue until they get veterans in there...... I never understood why the Spurs could not spend money, I mean they are a smaller city but during the years they should have been able to save some pennies..... You cannot survive on tradition only.....the Mavericks were spending the most in the last decade.
NBA players are pretty naive and have their blindfolders on like horses when it comes to that. But when their sisters are being allegedly abused or beaten I guess then it dawns on them to get mad at Kevin Porter Jr.
I don't really know since I'm not a player I'm just contesting the other posters statement saying KPJ destroyed the locker room and was an ahole to everyone including other teammates and all the coaches.
Nah.. I’m still high on Wemby. That said there’s a lot he fan improve on. Among which are add some weight, polish up his shot, and some moves in the post.
Ah okay but yeah on the contrary, he might have bipolar or something he had mental issues.... I met those humans, they can be charming at times and then say bad things about you behind your back or go do things to you...... Very schizophrenic......it was definitely more complicated than that.....
Honestly, I think it will just piss him off. I also think Pop steps down after this season. Spurs just didn't manage the team right. Remember, Pop couldn't keep Kawhi from throwing tenper tantrums. Gone are the days of Duncan, Parker and Manu. They could have spent money but players don't want to go there. I think they were so used to draft picks they didn't build a team. Now, they have a disgruntled kid who hasn't even played half a season and is supposed to be the face of the franchise
I know normal players do not want to go there but Wemby specifically said he wanted to play for San Antonio.... Manu specifically said he wanted to play for the Spurs.....it is not all that bad.... I am not worried about disgruntled kid.....dude is just not used to losing after winning everything in France .....like all Best player, best defensive player, best everything...... The NBA does not have a relegation system and the NBA should have one......teams can bounce back way too easily.....
Correct but I know Wemby had a relationship with Pop. Manu was close with him as well. That obviously helps. I personally wouldn't want to live in SA but I certainly get a guy coming from another country wanting to play for a coach they're familiar with.
