I think this Summer is going to be key moving forward for years to come! Possible #1 pick, Head Coach hiring, and money to spend in FA. So my concerns are more along the lines of what traits will they look for in the next Head Coach? If not the #1 overall pick, then who does he pick? will they trade the pick? Since they are a bad team, who can they sign in FA? Will he sign another Daniel Thies or will he hit this time?
We will fall to pick 4, Silas will be given an extension, and no one will sign in FA....the luck and life of a Rockets fan.
No one rooted for a tank until tank was all there was. No one would root for tank if harden didn't stop playing for us and demanded a trade No one wanted tank if it wasn't for the fact that we lose control of our picks after this year and tank or not those picks would be in teens at worst To be clear, Rockets didn't tank the first year bc they had no choice, they just sucked and couldn't do anything about it. You can tech say they have purposely tanked last year and this year but that is what happens with all the conditions described above. Also No one here has enough power to influence rockets decision, no matter what anyone on here says rockets will do what they want to. So relax none of this is happening bc people wanted it to happen
If anyone here can remember the **** show that was Astros baseball after the sale to Crane they can see the similarities. The team was soooo bad. They were God awful. It took them 4 years to see the fruits from the tank. Let’s hope our young players have the grit and competitiveness that the young Astros had. I doubt it since Jalen just doesn’t seem like that guy and Jabari has a mental block on his shooting skill but if we get Wemby everything will be worth it. If we don’t? I see Orlando Magic for the next 5 years
And the 4th pick will force a trade or go to Europe. Why would anyone with any leverage sign with this organization? Changes need to be made fast before the reputation is set in amber. Yet it seems changes will not be made. Culture is highly influenced by the owner and we have a drunk in face paint shouting inanities at reporters during a street party. Between this guy owning my Rockets and climate change, I'm turning into a pessimist.
I was listening to a local Sports Talk Show and someone brought this up. The major difference is the Astros Players were taught how to WIN in the minors, so when they were brought up to the majors, it was just a matter of just getting use to the majors, they already knew how to win. The Rockets players are not being taught how to win. I hope I'm wrong but John Wall said as much.
Pfffft even before harden demanded a trade, there were already folks wanting to get rid of him so we could tank and watch team ball. They were tired of him walking the ball up, called him a choker, etc If u bother to do a bit of digging u will the find stupid posts that said something along the line that they rather watch us lose playing the right way than Harden iso hero ball
Well you had me until Mark Jokeson lol MOMMA THERE GO THAT POST Nate McMillan just got let go from the Hawks. They seem one step ahead looking for their title-quality coach and moving on from a short term defensive coach. I could buy that as a short term "get disciplined/get. 500" type move. They absolutely need a top 2 pick from this draft. That or dump assets for them. I'm down with signing a couple mid level vets too, just because we have 60 million doesn't mean we need to spend it....although we won't have to worry about maxing our guys (hopefully that'll be necessary) for 2-3 years so spending it now won't really hurt the future either. Definitely have to end this tank with a golden prospect and reset the culture with coaching/free agents vets.
Disagree 100%. I went to a lot of games during those years. We had Altuve, Springer, Keuchel, Castro, Lowrie, etc up and coming and the team spent a lot of time on player development. The GM was a top notch guy brought in from St. Louis to rebuild the team. The Rockets are currently ran by a bunch of morons top to bottom.
Not really. You're confusing them with some of the better years. I think you're about halfway right... Springer came up in 2014. Keuchel wasn't rotation full time until 2013. Altuve was there. Lowrie was there. JD was there (not mentioned).Castro was there. The really bad years were 2011-13. Keuchel caught the tail end and wasn't good. Over 5 era and no one thought much of him. Altuve had a sub-700 ops in 2013 and was a mixed bag... I think there is some truth but you're glossing over details if early Keuchel was exciting to you..
Oh believe me, I know Mark Jackson is not a good tactical coach and a little too obsessed with Jesus but at least we know he can prepare a team to get to the hump before an elite coach takes us over that hump. He certainly did wonders for Curry's career. Not too bothered by who our next coach is as long as they can teach defense and work ethic. Great coaches usually don't join the worst team in the NBA so I figure if we get rid of Silas, there has to be a stop gap kind of coach. Totally agree we don't need to spend the money. I'd wait till a Tier 1 FA becomes available.
Some does not equal all. The comment I was responding to was about all the people that wanted to tank. Harden had haters, green has haters, senguin has haters. That's normal, those people have specific agendas outside of what they think is best for the team, I am not included them in my group.
